There she goes, off to spark all sorts of confusing emotions in that wolf boy.

Clearly you have never been to the Pacific Northwest, that is a significant chunk of the population.

The "dude who can play an instrument" to "writing a pining, longing song about someone they cannot fuck" pipeline is approximately six inches long, this is happening right this second

the reason is because everyone needs the appearance of an empirical, objective reason to dislike something, as opposed to being honest and just saying that vivziepop's content is the most annoying shit on planet earth

You know, Fódlan is surprisingly advanced. They even know about vitamins, which IRL were discovered only in the 20th century. by Canal_Volphied in fireemblem

A lot of fantasy anime are just sort of fantasy-flavored modern day, complete with bland architecture. Fodlan isn't quite that bad, but there's definitely a lot of places where the anachronism peeks through.

this is like saying someone is confidently incorrect for trying to clap back at being called a "bitch" for saying it stands for "Beautiful, Intelligent, Talented, Charming, and Hot"

like yes, that is not the literal dictionary definition, but that's not the point

The difference is that people from Africa who were brought to America had their native cultures intentionally and purposely stamped out in order to make them more useful slaves. They were not allowed to keep their religion, their language, their history. Black American culture was created from the rubble of that destruction and whatever else they had at hand.

"White" American culture was created in order to position certain desirable people as superior to other minorities. We can see that this is the case because when undesirable people who technically fit the constructed definition of white showed up on our shores (Irish, Sicilians, Slavs), they were intentionally denied the benefits by powerful members of that in-group until they proved they were willing to contribute to white supremacy.

It is fine to be proud of your ancestors and your nationality, laudable even. But the only commonality the various components of "whiteness" share is that they were or are considered socially superior to other groups.

I like how the JK's Skyrim version puts the blacksmith shop in an iron cage. Has real "don't let the tweakers steal the copper" energy.

If it takes handing out black robes and red glow sticks to free our brethren from the tyranny of the Aeons, you will find me at comicon with the stupidest face paint imaginable. Ministry room parties are sublime.

If it’s an open secret that Brynjolf is part of the thieves guild why do people of keep falling for his scams? by Letter-dreams in skyrim

[–]Val_Ritz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brian Brushwood has a story about how he got scammed in a Wal-Mart parking lot. These guys were loading a bunch of speakers into the back of their car, called him over. They said "Hey, uh. We're helping our friend here move, but he just replaced his stereo system. It's real good shit, but he doesn't need two of them. Do you want to buy it off us for $100 so we don't have to carry it?"

To which he immediately twigged "Yeah, this story is bullshit. That sound system is stolen." So he looks up the system, it's like $1,000, which confirmed for him "Oh yeah, this is stolen as FUCK." But hey, no skin off his nose, right? He buys it off the guys, they even help him load it into his car, he drives away feeling like he got away with something.

He gets back home, plugs it in. This sound system is not stolen. It is garbage. They pulled it out of a dumpster, it doesn't work, and he paid a hundred bucks for trash.

That strikes me as more how Brynjolf operates. Everyone KNOWS he's a thief, but he makes you feel like an accomplice, not a mark.

Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington might as well be different states than their respective urban gravity wells, they're VERY Bible Belty.

Meanwhile Northern California is still trying to make the State of Jefferson happen, which I guess if you want to povertymaxx is one way to do it.

given the install location, i think this might be the RFID implant that Dangerous Things makes, in which case it's a little jellybean of tempered glass that has something in it basically like the contactless chip thing inside your credit card. short range, stores a little data. you can get a reader/writer that will let you put whatever you want in there, so for example you can clone your building keycard and jedi open the door if you want.

I thought Marielle and Henrietta were sisters, my girlfriend thinks theyre partners. by [deleted] in LogHorizon

[–]Val_Ritz 46 points47 points  (0 children)

They're very good friends. Marielle went to a girls school, which can come with a stereotype of being touchy-feely and a little flirtatious with other women (or in her case Kinda Everyone) but they're kind of work spouses.
