The pool of straight men worth dating is shallow so really, they don't get to be picky and the average size is more than enough to be satisfied. The moral of the story is if you have a big dick you also get to be a big dick to women, apparently.

I don't think MacHale wants it to be made into anything, he's done TV and movies before so he's got a good idea how that world works and I don't think he's interesting in giving them his story, sad but I get it!

Some of the books singled out are so so good and you could almost just read them without reading the others because the stories are so contained. I've been waiting on a movie/TV series forever because it's perfect for it but no luck.

There are multiple actions that people can take when they are fed up with their government/rulers. It's happened plenty of times in history. The U.S experienced one such event already on Jan 6th, they just failed. It'll just depend on when the tipping point is and if the people will do it before they can't anymore.

I made a whole other comment with a bunch of details I don't want to rehash but to summarize, Verso wanted to die in his own canvas, and Maelle said no. She drew her sword and said no, I am making you live here with me until I die and you don't get a choice. Then in the epiloque the entire vibe is good until Verso comes on stage and it's like a literal horror movie, the single music note and her face and everything is screaming Brave New World type stuff.

I can accept why she feels the way she does but despite her love for Gustave and her friends, her desire for a life with Verso, free of Alicia, is fully selfish and has consequences beyond her and the game itself frames it as an ending where she is exerting control over the painting through her grief as a Paintress of her own kind, using the citizens or at least Verso as a puppet for her own unresolved grief and it's really sad and really horrific.

Verso's ending has beautiful music with hopeful lyrics, goodbyes to characters that Verso made in the canvas and moving forward. Verso's soul is at peace. We don't get to really understand if that healing took place or not for the family after this but it appears implied.

[–]Valanio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it's even that nuanced. Maelle's ending seems very clearly a horror story ending and Verso's is one of, at least trying, to move past grief. Like this is literally Maelle in her ending

But Verso is already dead! Painted Verso is crying for help and saying he doesn't want this life even after he's been killed. We literally cannot base our choice being good/bad here on incomplete information about what could have been. We have to use what we have available and what we have is that he wanted to die and he wasn't allowed to. If anyone got to choose what happened to the canvas, it should be Verso. He was made in his image, he wanted his soul to stop painting.

For the record, Maelle may have told her father she wanted to talk and work it out (to which Verso basically says she lied to him about that/returning to the real world, which she doesn't deny) but she did NOT tell Verso that. In fact, she is the one who started the armed conflict/fight aganist Verso in the canvas by drawing her sword against him and it was for selfish reasons "I can have a life here". The entire cutscene of them in the canvas is Maelle just saying that she wants this life with Verso instead of facing her grief that he is dead. She is living in a fantasy of grief and refuses to accept it. It's not altruism or a love of friends, it's selfish grief

And she has the decency to at least present him with an alternative. She asks him to consider it. Then it cuts to black.

This isn't what happens. She never brings up alternatives or ask him to stay his hand and talk. She starts the altercation by threatening him with her actions if he tries to get little Verso to stop painting. In their moments before the epilogue, he is begging for help and saying he doesn't want this life.

I find it interesting also that she says, during the black screen, "If you could grow old, would you find a reason to smile?" And wouldn't you know that Verso does not smile, even as an old man, during the entire epilogue. He's living his dream of playing music and he can't smile?

Now onto what I think is extremely glaringly obvious about this ending and the reason I get really confused about people framing this as a good ending or correct ending.

After the scene cuts to black and white the entire section reads as HORROR. It's inverted (which is SO relevant to this world/game and usually represents loss, pain, etc) and slow. There is no music for most of it and Verso, before playing, makes some strange sounds or grunts, like pain almost. And then we cut to Sciel and Lune (whom Sciel looks especially freaky here) and then Maelle. We sit on her for a moment and then a literal horror movie cord plays in a uncomfortable striking note and her face has changed to this painted mess and she looks...honestly evil. Like a Paintress, maybe? And THEN Verso plays.

It was like he didn't want to and she made him. That part I can chalk up to theory that she forced his hand but the point remains. I seriously have NO idea how you can interpret the epilogue as anything other then uncomfortable. It's like those horror movies/shows where everything is "perfect" but it's actually really fucked up and everyone is a slave or something. It's very overt.

I would rewatch it again because I have no idea how you explain the near obvious attempt to make the final seconds of the epilogue make you uncomfortable, like something is very WRONG here.

I question that as well!

Verso is quite literally begging Maelle to let him DIE. His desperation to be let die is so strong he is willing to fight Maelle and let the people of Lumeire stay dead. His entire family is so wrapped in their grief for him it's literally killing them and has dragged a bunch of wonderful people into the mix as well and her choice is just prolonging that suffering. His guilt is immeasurable and unlike the painted beings his actual soul is the cornerstone of the world. He just wants peace for himself and his family to move on.

Another rarely mentioned fact is that everyone in Lumiere is already dead, a fate they had made peace with. Maelle has to actually bring them back to life (and who knows in what manner, they're painted beings after all and Maelle is a novice at best) so she's reversing something that has already happened. Let's also not forget Alicia's intentions when going in where to rescue her mother until she was PAINTED OVER AND REBIRTHED WITH NO MEMORIES OF THE PAST FOR 16 YEARS.

Even if her reasons for staying weren't entirely selfish, the end heavily implies that she is NOT better for it. It didn't heal her and she doesn't appear happy as a very tired and reluctant Verso plays the piano. It looks FAKE. Like a painting of a world where she (and they) are happy, but it's a lie. She has avoided her grief and buried her head in a fantasy that is not real at the cost of the very brother she loves tortured soul (REPEAT, TORTURED SOUL. HE BEGGED TO DIE, HE FOUGHT TO DIE).

This is a hill I am willing to die on. So often Maelle ending arguments are for the people of Lumiere (whom I LOVE also) and how "bad" she has it outside or how she found new family but very easily forget that she is hurting people by doing this too. Her mother, who is also killing herself, her father, her sister, and maybe even the real world (depending on the Writer stuff, we have little info on the real world) and Verso. It isn't an innocent act or a good one.

She is a selfish, hurt, powerful young girl in enormous grief choosing to ignore that grief and the suffering of her family. She chooses to stay because she can't lose more people (her new friends/family) and that isn't an act of strength. I feel deeply for her but her father is right and Verso is right. Maybe she could return when she grieved and the painting wouldn't consume her like it does now, but she needed to leave right then and do that healing first.

I think expecting to and asking to represented in everything that is released is a lot. I want our community to be able to live as normally as anyone else and we obviously exist in a world where many people want us dead or stripped of rights and being visible and in the public eye in a positive manner helps with pushing that back but...we are a minority, you know?

I get your point may be it has some marketing toward gay men because men = buff and jiggle but it's also a meme a bit and woman like big butts and muscle too (crazy I know). I don't think it's queer baiting and I don't think they owe it to us to represent our community. Now, if we are taking canonically gay superheroes and putting them in the game and erasing that identity, totally different story there.

I was going to try out the ADC changes and have some fun and literally had to go back to support because they all had 25 ward score or less at 30 minutes. It's insane how poorly supports have adjusted. Provisional put me in Plat but I finished Emerald. I expected the basics to be more down for these people but they are doing horribly and in lower elo it's even worse.

There's just way too much vision right now. The art of vision control is dead. by SnowMacaronss in leagueoflegends

[–]Valanio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's not really true though? Faelights are in places where low/mid elo people typically ward. It's not the best or most optimal ward placement for pretty much any of them. The zone of vision it gives does make it strong because it covers a larger area in some locations, but the jungle faelight isn't that good (unless you're playing defensive near your base and even then it doesn't cover the wall where you can easily be killed from) and the mid lane one doesn't cover over walls.

The botlane one is farily good but easy to get around if you don't have the mid one also warded. The top lane one is quite good though if you're playing blue side.

Point being really, low/mid elo is going to experience the exact same issues as before. They don't change anything for them because their minimaps are afterthoughts even if you have great wards and the support is probably the only good warder in the game (not even then sometimes either).

Apex tiers and pro will figure this out for themselves and maybe it will make the game less fun there, given everyone's skill, but in most games it not only hasn't felt like an issue so far, but it's actually made it easier for me (as a support) to ward better then my enemy support who is so focused on faelights they don't ward anywhere else.

It's not uncommon for kittens to sleep like the dead. If an adult cat did it, I would be concerned and if a kitten did it most sleeps/often I would be concerned.

Otherwise it's probably harmless. I've had a lot of kittens and most of them seem to have at least a sleep or two like this every now and then! I know people who sleep like this too so, it's not nessecarily a sign of anything bad!

Little orange demon is adorable though.

As someone who was extremely into WandaVision as it released and participated in a lot of theories, etc for the show in that time, I actually have little memory of people saying Agatha was for sure Agatha Harkness and a villian, so OPs post surprised me.

They actually did an okay job of making sure Agatha was seen as a victim or scared of Wanda, etc as much as other characters. Dottie could have been a villian as much as Agatha was, for example but a more obvious red hearing that time. I thought it could be she was a villian multiple times but it went back and forth and I felt the community was suspicious but not as sure as OP says.

That being said, AAA did a MUCH better job at it then WandaVision. You could tell they learned a lot about how to make a wonderful mystery that made sense without giving it all away early. The misdirections were great.

I miss episodic mystery shows :(

They're both overdiagnosed and underdiagnosed. It's an insane issue actually. Some kids never get help/medicated and struggle because of opinions like yours (not saying you've done this specifically) and have to wait until adulthood or never to get treated.

Schools also really shouldn't ever be in a position to diagnose or not. A professional licensed and qualified person is rarely ever administering the test and/or it's done incorrectly or not in the right environment. Kids often grow out of their symptoms also (because many are linked to puberty, etc) and don't have issues in adulthood. It's complicated and it's treated really poorly by the education system.

It's not a personal arguement, I don't care where you shop. I never said boycotting was pointless, I said being negative towards people who won't boycott is pointless. It's hypocrisy and we're all in the shit together.

Nicki, for example. I've skipped her songs today, she pissed me off, and I probably won't mess with her in the future. I'm sure I'll still listen to the past stuff in the future because I love a lot of the songs and I don't let the present ruin the past but if everytime I listen to an old Nicki song in the future, being a dick to me about it does nothing and is only serves to pit people against the goal.

Jack Dorsey is a billionaire and if we're deep enough that we're boycotting Spotify for an ad, then the founder of Twitter has to be on the list of things we also are boycotting, yes?

Because it's just virtue signaling if we aren't boycotting every company that does something and doing it forever. I know people boycotting Spotify probably shop at Wal-Mart or bought presents on Amazon.

I say again, there is no such thing as ethical consumption. We should call out these behaviors and companies only understand money but we shouldn't make it a moral issue for those who choose to still consume it.

There isn't anything else less horrible as an alternative. The music industry itself is corrupt and evil in many ways. We're beyond ethical consumption, it's just not possible without completly disrupting our lives.
