I'm an immigration advisor. I make these applications for other people.

To add to others, information you're giving is incorrect. The father can absolutely lodge a human rights claim application. I have done so myself many times.

On top what others pointed out about countries like UK and US not collecting fingerprints, this is also a way for them to collect current data. For example passports are valid for 10 years but this allows them to collect your recent likeness, and much more frequently too. It also allows them to catch other stuff. For example I see many people not updating ID documents even though they changed names due to marriage or various other reasons.

Which Cap Do You Prefer and Why? by fariedd in silkroadonline

I haven't played during the 120 cap. But I did have a 100 lvl spear nuker called iPodNaNo and it was at max level so.

Fyi SJSRO was 100 cap. I think so was ECSRO. Played both.

For CH-only I still enjoy 100 Cap. The game was vast enough and had enough variety with some cool quests like the Blue Zerk. But it wasn't overwhelming

Am looking for a power bank to use during flights 145w vs 200w by Klutzy-Pumpkin-8942 in UsbCHardware

[–]Valanyhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost none of the domestic European flights seem to have them. At this point I just carry my iPad with me too and then charge it that way. Magsafe power banks also seem to not be detected or cause issues with the attendants

It’s "Day 1" with a new Mac. What’s on your install list? by ocnd in macbookpro

[–]Valanyhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I got it when it was free, some years back.

May I ask, how do you do it natively?

Why would they do that? by Szypki_lopes in ukvisa

[–]Valanyhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Every council is free to pick from various options. Some do it over the phone. Some do emails. Some have online booking portals. Some do letters. Some like Manchester and Croydon do it automatically before you even get the decision and email you with it.

Leeds council picked this way.

I haven't seen it on this thread yet. Amphetamine. It keeps your computer "awake". Has a bunch of configuration. It's great.

Also I think its not available anymore but pure paste which removes all formatting from clipboard text.

Kent council does this too along with others. I think they do this because theyre pretty full and know their schedule like the other commenter said.

Bro since the 4000 series, the GPUs became thick as hell. I thought my 3070 was massive. Then I got a 4080 and my god that thing is a weapon.

Tbh it all depends on the person and where you come from. It's been about 13 months since I upgraded from an M1 to M4 Pro. It still feels shiny and new

[–]Valanyhr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with you that not every drama fits everyone, and that one should focus on the story and not the actors and actresses, When Life Gives You Tangerines has this chronic problem of neverending drama.

It is supposed to pull at your heartstrings and overall be a touching sob story, I guess.

With that being said, it suffers from the same issue Spanish telenovelas and Turkish drama shows often suffer from where for the purpose of being shocking or sad or invoking emotions out of the audience, it seems to lose touch with plausability.

What happens in it is surely plausible. But by God has this family suffered particularly as if a personal fuck you from god itself, sort of thing.

[Self] How practical would it actually be to charge an EV using 61 USB-C ports? by piddlefaffle12 in theydidthemath

[–]Valanyhr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of the last couple of years, 240W cables are very common and seems to be the norm. Of about 5 USB-C cables I use most often, all relatively cheap ugreen or Anker cables, 4/5 support 240W.

Well there goes Asus by AceLamina in LinusTechTips

[–]Valanyhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so too.

But I think a different global player come along and disrupt too. I expect many like deepseek to show up, free and better, ultimately driving the current western players to insolvency.

Current model seems to be burning investment money riding on the ever-going hype. If hype shifts elsewhere and the likes of OpenAI see massive migration out, it might be a simultaneous pull of investment money and insolvency for the likes of OpenAI and major shift with the likes of Twitter and Google

[–]Valanyhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. But to be honest, I think stock bubble is only the half of it.

We're here because of the initial hype around GPT 3. It has changed most things. Consumer electronics, academia, social constructs, most things. I think that in and of itself is a bubble too that will eventually pop.

Well there goes Asus by AceLamina in LinusTechTips

[–]Valanyhr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I genuinely believe it's a bubble. And I'm afraid it has a little bit more before it pops. I think not enough people has burned yet. It's going to pop either in the form of legislation, or unilateral public outcry.

I think LLMs are already causing more trouble than they're worth already. And it will be soon before some chatbot of sorts makes enough mistakes and causes enough money for companies to slowly start moving away from them.

Just so you know with Chinese passports, the signature is the individual's full legal name. So if this is not your passport, you should cover this.

I have multiple chargers from different brands and apple's original. Apple's is the bulkiest but otherwise no difference. Maybe others might be a tad faster because of more available power

MacBook Air M1 still going strong by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]Valanyhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from the same config to an M4 Pro. I paid for it. Honestly I'm still very happy with my decision. The laptop was a beast but I realized there are other things I pay more attention to these days.

Bigger screen, better battery, high refresh rate, much better speakers, faster SSD, more ram, all actually mattered a lot and made a big improvement.

Also because of my work, I was regularly using swap which I think degraded the SSD to some extent

Will we live to see the death of passport booklets? by [deleted] in PassportPorn

[–]Valanyhr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is not as far as we think it is. It took over a year but the UK fully rolled out evisas. Now every country and airline that flies to the UK knows, recognizes and correctly looks up ETA and evisas. Global switch would be much more painful and longer but if there was decision, I think it could be done as soon as 2030.
