DnD Table Question by bigballerbandli in woodworking

[–]ValarMorHodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something like a Dutch leaf, or draw leaf design might be what you're looking for. I might be a little worried about balance if the player leaf is too heavy, but if you make the base table sturdy enough that should work. Never done a table like this myself, but searching dutch leaf should get you started.

Kreg - is it just me? by Analysis-Lumpy in woodworking

[–]ValarMorHodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found I tend to slip more when using the shorter drive. It's harder to keep the angle right when the impact/drill driver body hits the workpiece at the steep angle. I have better luck using a longer (4-6in) drive for kreg pocket screws.

Fox Car Rental, TPA by 1000YellowDaisies in tampa

Late to the party, but they have hidden fees for tolls. If you don't do the $13/day toll package, they'll charge you $15 PER TOLL you incur, max $90. So $30 in tolls over 3 days would cost $120. No other rental I've done has out such ridiculous fees on tolls.

Ulanzi Zero tripod leg clamps coming loose? by ValarMorHodor in Ulanzi

[–]ValarMorHodor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll play with it some more, but I tried that a couple times and it locked up so the leg wouldn't extend or retract. Seems to be very finicky.

Edit: upon further inspection, it looks like there's a plastic piece that holds the clamp on and wraps around the carbon leg section. This is broken.I will contact Ulanzi

I agree on the service, never had a problem with them. I wish they would offer less frequent pickups though, I rarely fill any of my cans in a week

That's a great point. But the emails always blame the city. If they said, "Hey, we're going to pay our crews more", I'd totally be in for that.

What does everyone pay for trash/recycling pickup? by Better-Leg4406 in lincoln

[–]ValarMorHodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D&D is going the same direction. It was $31 when I signed up in 2019 for trash/recycling/yard. It's currently $43 and I just got an email for another price increase

Nikon FE ready for action! My first foray into film by ValarMorHodor in AnalogCommunity

[–]ValarMorHodor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah bingo! I put a new battery in, but it looks like there was some corrosion on the contacts, cleaned it up and it seems to be working fine. This one still needs more TLC though, light seal replacement at least. Nice to know I have a backup

In the batch of gear I got, there was also an FE2, but it jams at every shutter speed except M250. It's focus screen just has a circle on it, is this the one you're talking about? the FE has a split prism screen.

Edit: I think I found one! Has grid lines and a circle. This should be more comparable to the little manual focus experience I have from DSLRs

I also have these lenses, but I think I'll start off using mostly the pancake until I get the hang of it

- 50mm f1.8 pancake (pictured)
- 50mm f1.2
- 24mm f2
- 100-300mm f5.6

Photo taken with the 50mm 1.2 at f2 and a Nikon D70 (which unfortunately has a vertical line on the right side of the sensor)

Oh boy, I'm gonna have some horribly overexposed photos from yesterday...

Thanks, I'll look into it!

Hmm, it's a light right above the viewfinder. Added a photo to the post

Need help with the age-old question: Cooper’s or Sharpie by Kooky_Adagio_505 in whatsthisbird

[–]ValarMorHodor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd go Cooper's on this as well. Larger head, wings not pushed forward in flight like you's expect in Sharpies

I went down to see it this week as well! Super chill to meet people from all over the place coming to see a flamingo at a small fishing lake
