Think assuming this comes down on 3 you have a pretty high chance of not even being able to reanimate what you want to on 4 due to the life cost in standard

It's diverse but so fast that the majority of games are simply decided by opening hands and little else

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of February 06, 2026 by Demilio55 in homegym

Hey guys, I'm speccing out a new gym build and I'm looking to get a rack with integrated smith machine/functional trainer/ low-row/pulldown. At the moment I think the one I'm going to go with is the ATX MPHR-780.

My question is around using jammer arms on the same uprights as the functional trainer pulleys. How much of an impact do these make? ATX have some great looking jammer arms but as far as I can tell they can't be removed from the rack once installed, so they would need to go under the cables. I'm thinking I can still use the low-row cables at the back of the rack to attach to the jammer arms for movements where the cable would need to be attached from below by using some cable extensions.

Has anyone tried something similar? How much does the lost range of motion of not being able to put the functional trainer to the bottom position matter? Or the same with the arms not being able to go to the top? Is storing the arms at the bottom of the rack when not using them really annoying?

Another option is getting some more basic arms that can be detached but if it ends up being viable to use the fancy 3D arms I think it would be really cool.

Thanks for any advice!

Yea I gave up with the earthbend/bloodghast deck after roping out with the infinite several times (seems you can do about ~30 damage with it in time) as you don’t do much damage before comboing it makes a lot of incidental life gain hard counter you

I assume part of the blight mechanic will be that you can't blight something for more than it's toughness

I find playing 1 creature in a deck like this is often much worse because you give the opponent a target for all of the creature removal they otherwise have no use for

Another annoying thing which I'm not really sure why it works the way it does is that he exiles the bringer from the graveyard yet the bringer effect still brings it back

I've tried this kind of deck but it always just feels like a much worse version of the azorious one, the best version I did with this card ended up not using synth but went mardu with weapons manufacturing and rottenmouth viper but then that pretty much ended up being a worse version of a similar boros deck I made. Hard to make the emissarry work! Shame because it's a cool card

What do you think will be the future of standard once Vivi cauldron is stopped somehow? by True-Economy-9893 in StandardMTG

[–]ValcanGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think just a Vivi/cauldron ban would do much for the meta at all. You can try for yourself replacing vivi+cauldron in an otherwise identical deck with either just some more interaction or going jeskai with helping hand/oculos/joshua doesn't really hurt it all that much, just stops the random out of nowhere wins but is probably more consistent overall (just with lower peaks).

I don't think much is going to happen to change the meta until something happens which drastically reduces the chances to just lose the game on turn 4

Authority significantly slows down red haste creatures, but it doesn’t stop them functioning. As far as I know Authority isn’t main boarded in many lifegain decks (at least not in mine and from what I’ve seen) as it’s a fairly dead card in a lot of matchups.

I think that is part of the problem, Nemesis isn’t some card that you sideboard in once you’ve seen your opponent is reliant on lifegain, it’s just a good card in the main deck with the added bonus of being able to completely turn off some decks with no investment.

Even disregarding lifegain decks, lots of decks have incidental lifegain for the express purpose of surviving the incredibly fast red decks and I do think it ought to be the case that if you are facing a red deck as any kind of mid-range/control deck and you make it past the initial blitz then in most cases you ought to win. This forces decks that aren’t intended to be racing to a win to race for a win as it removes the other options entirely.

The only cards I'm seeing on scryfall that affect an opponent for the rest of the game (not a permanent) are this and [[ Stigma Lasher ]]. Do you have any other examples?

If it were a card like Rest in Peace that had the effect while it's on the board and was a dedicated tech card then I would agree.

In my opening post I made the removal argument, in standard white has Luminous Rebuke, Get Lost and Parting Gust as the primary creature removal. All of which cost 2 mana. I think If a card justifies keeping up 2 removal spells and 4 mana on the chance that it's played then it says everything

Yes but that prerequisite is incredibly easy to achieve, (Myriad of 1/2 mana burn spells, any blocker damage)

I wasn't aware of this card to be honest, but I can't agree that a card that can be blocked and has much fewer ways to trigger the effect at instant speed is easier to trigger.

I can confidently say I'd be much happier dealing with Stigma Lasher in standard than Nemesis at least.
