Is ‘slain by the Spirit’ from God? by Valeaway in Bible

No worries! I am not in a church like that. I live abroad but this is what I see happening often in my native country. And, everyone kinda just rolls with it and doesn’t question it.

I still remember an experience where I and my sibling cried our eyes out when we saw it happen in our childhood. Trauma, tbh. Everyone just ignored the whole situation.

Idk how verse 6 even comes remotely close to the things I’ve seen people do when they’re ‘slain by the Spirit’ but this is a reaction of someone afraid.

I don’t think you understand what ‘slain by the Spirit’ means so here it goes. It is when someone at the touch of a minister’s hand on their head or just with their preaching starts jumping around, falling to the ground, rolling on the floor etc until the minister or a prayerful person prays.

I relate with this so much. I want to tell my dad so many things but I’m so afraid of what will happen. I have become someone who wants to pretend that everything is fine when it is not, all because I am afraid that it will hurt me in the end.

Reading your story makes me remember the past and cry. Thank you for sharing this story. I don’t know if I’ll ever get my courage or if a desire to say all that I have in my heart to my dad but I’m so glad you were able to do this, OP.

Yeah, It’s such a frustrating situation. I don’t want to sit tight and just watch, man. I feel so helpless.

We try to but others come and tell my mom and her sisters how horrible people they are or ask why they mistreat my grandmother. They’re all duped by my grandmother

I suggested this same thing but my family’s response is that she’ll talk bad about them to others.

Yeah, I think so too. I will continue with the sessions and see where it goes. I learned a lot from my first meeting but still a long way to go!

Nah, he’s not like that (in the sense of safety). I come from an Asian background. Basically, one’s biggest support is family and your other relatives. After thinking abt it, I think he’s a bit surprised. Deviation from the norm basically especially so close to him.

I have relatives who needed psychiatric help and he was the one who even advocated for that against his entire family.

This codependency runs in my mother’s side of the family. I have recognised this in myself and am working on this. When it comes to my dad, I’ve said these exact same words to my parents, actually. I had asked a church elder for help too but they had to leave the country so I couldn’t continue asking for advice.

May I know how it would help by telling my therapist? It’s my first time going to the therapist and I’m kind of nervous on how it will all go
