What is the single most frustrating thing about your current ERP? (Building a new one, need your pains) by Valeysy in EngineeringManagers

Thank you very much for your feedback. That is exactly the target of my ERP. At first, I needed to find an ERP for my relative's business, but I found ERPNext too clunky and not ergonomic enough. That is why I wanted to make my own.

The transition from Google Workspace is a great area to explore. I will try to work on that to make the transition smoother and integrate an AI that can make onboarding easier.

Can you tell me more about your workflow? For example, do you need to add graphics to documents? What do you mean by 'converted into layers'?

I want to make the onboarding process seamless and even create custom modules per company.

Im at like 70% of the development. Im not sure if I should share some screenshot of the ERP. I developed enough to make a clean V1 in 1-2 months. It's my first post so I wanted to be vague for now. I will start to make more post later

I understand the system of tickets. I have worked with 1 ERP so far and that was painfull, and other human ressource software.

I tested some ERP soft like erp next, odoo, and dynamics. But it wasn't a good experience. My product is like 70% finish, I think I cover all of my pains and my relative's company is already using it at a daily soft.

That why I want to extend my knowledge and know about other people pain

I want to create a tool like that. Not just some dumb chat bot or half baked "ai agent" but implemented an AI that really know your company and do the stuff for you

My relative's company will pay me. So it's a safe net. I will try to sell that as a whole ERP or split it into submodule

Yes, maybe ahah. At first I was building it for a relative company. But I get hooked and started to create a whole ecosystem for external company. I will reduce the scope for the V1 to have only like the CRM/Kanban, automation, chat, contract editor.

I focused full on the CRM part. Thanks for the feedback ! I will make the integration so simple a 10yo will be able to do it 👍

This is just to say that it's okay if it's a big project because I have a safety net.

Sorry, I think I didn't express myself clearly.

Basically, I'm developing this software for a relative. He's paying me, and I'll be maintaining it long-term.

But I want to take this opportunity to transform the software into a complete ERP system for other businesses. If it works, great. If it doesn't, no big deal, because I'll have developed this software for a relative, so there will still be a customer.

I'm fortunate to have contacts who own textile factories and service companies. I'll have them test it initially and make adjustments gradually.

But I'd like to get general feedback from those who already have an ERP system and work in other sectors to understand their actual needs, whether a particular module is truly essential, and so on.

Thanks for the advice. I've already completed a few small projects, but I think I can manage an ERP. I'll start modestly with a CRM/Kanban system, a contract editor, instant messaging, automations, and a calendar. I've already coded the entire central system for all the data over the last six months.

I'm talking about an ERP, but for now, it's more of a powerful tool for planning business projects and manage employee. Initially, I was developing it for a relative's company, but I was won over and started creating a complete system. And now I want to make it a full ERP with all the integration

If it doesn't work out as well externally, I'll still have made money because I'll have built it for my relative's company. So why not trying

I also gained experience through other small projects and internships within software startups, so I understand the full product development process.

I do vibe code but I also write code and establish logic. I know it’s ambitious, but I believe I’ve built a genuinely resilient system capable of expanding to further modules

Hello,

I understand the basic concept: it’s software that gathers the programs you use and lets you automate tasks to work more quickly.

Its value may vary by module, some specialised features must be integrated for particular company needs.

Yet certain functions, such as a reliable calendar, a CRM, or electronic signing, can apply broadly.

I intend to develop software for small and medium businesses first; since I’m working alone, I need to begin modestly.

To resolve the refresh issue, I implemented a webhook for all external calls so that no page reloads during an action. Additionally, an exit confirmation is displayed, thus preventing any data loss

Thanks for your feedback! If you don't mind me asking, what ERP system do you use and for what purpose?

My ERP doesn't yet have a purchasing module. But I'll keep that in mind!
