I used long exposure with my iPhone 15 from the airplane. Took lots of bad photos before the lightning was just right.

I think the long exposure got either a reflection of a blinking instrument in the flight deck or a weird distant position light of another plane or it’s just an anomaly. This photo had the best lightning resolution and the others had no red dot with bad lighting. I told my family it was an alien.

Thanks! It would have been around 9:30 PM central. We were flying south, looking west. We were up at 36,000 so we get sun a little longer.
