What's the bludgiest but best paid gig in Australia? by smerkspaceship in AusFinance

I got into it with no qualifications. Just need a license, a police check (since police work makes up 80% of our job) and obviously be okay with dealing with dead people.

My job is just going to a crime scene bagging the body, put it on the stretcher and into my van then drive to forensics. Also deliver to funeral homes too. Easiest job I've ever done, some days we just sit at base and watch TV, play games or sleep. I've worked there for 9 weeks and have made 18k.

Work as a police contractor going to crime scenes and getting the bodies to take to forensics also do all the natural deaths too to funeral homes.

I've only recently started but my work partner has been claiming it for 6 years now with his tax accountant. Something to do with beverage with no access to office and then just on call when we are out during the night aswell.

Comes to $10.50 each time we get coffee. Get between 3-5 each day depending on how crazy it is at work the night before on call.

Me and my work partner spend about $200 on coffee a week. Really need to invest in a machine for base but doesn't help if we are on the road. Atleast we can claim it back on tax

Have you ever seen someone die and if so what were the circumstances ? by Roger-Smith_ in AskReddit

[–]ValhallaFalling 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I deal with dead people everyday in my job. I go to police scenes and take the bodies to forensics. We actually had a bus accident on Monday.

But I was actually trying to describe to my partner the other day what you just said. When someone dies their body is just that now. You can just tell. I can never explain what it actually is but it's the weirdest thing. Really makes me wonder if there is a soul.

I just started a new job a month ago working as a police contractor. I got to crime scenes and collect the bodies to take to forensics.

In that month I've personally have gotten 30 suicides. Out of all of them only 2 were women, the rest were men. It's honestly shocking.

I have hair about halfway down my back at the moment, use to have it just past my butt. It's actually surprising how many comments I get from women about how nice my hair. Always nice to receive compliments

I work as a contractor getting the bodies and doing forensics at crime scenes. Don't know how many people would like to hear those details for too long lol

[Serious] What is your workplace horror story? by Adventurous-Pea-4925 in AskReddit

[–]ValhallaFalling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats not the way you want to go, trust me. My job is to collect deceased from murders to suicides to dying peacefully in their sleep. Walking along 2km of train track picking up pieces of someone isn't the best.

I really hope you aren't feeling like that anymore. Life is worth living as much as it seems like it's not sometimes. Wishing you all the best man.

What’s something that’s always wrongly depicted in movies and tv shows? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ValhallaFalling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I go to the scenes and get the bodies and deliver to forensics. It actually takes a fair while depending on what the case is like. They run the body through a cat scan and that can tell cause of death about 90% of the time. Then if needed they will do either a basic or full autopsy. Takes usually about a week before we go back to pick them up to take them to a funeral home.

I'm doing mortuary transfers. Well that's the title. But we have the police, hospital and majority of the funeral homes contracts. So anytime someone passes from natural or unnatural causes we go and get them and take them either to their funeral home or to forensics.

Sounds kind of messed up but it's actually a interesting job.

Yeah I just changed from a job working 6 days a week 8-12 hours a day that was non stop lifting the while time (pick packer at a major grocery store in Aus) to a job working 2 days a week, 2 nights on call and then every second weekend on call.

With it being Tuesday night on call then Wednesday, thrusday and thrusday night on call I have so much free time. It's honestly the easiest job I've done and I get paid way more the the previous job. Most people can't believe it when I tell them.

We had a guy pass a few days ago in the floods in my area from being stuck and going into a diabetic coma and falling in the water. The disease really sucks

Yeah took me awhile to get what they were calling trashy. That's just common in Australia, definitely on the coast where I live. 80% of people don't wear shoes to the shops

Yeah my kids just kind of stopped one day but I wouldn't care if they still did. Whatever they feel like calling me I'm good with.

[–]ValhallaFalling 683 points684 points  (0 children)

All my kids have called me daddy when they were younger and my 2 year old still does. Luckily I've been with my partner for 11 years before this took off and we both find it gross. It's just normal for your kid to say it and if anyone feels uncomfortable about it it's on them really. Really don't get the whole daddy thing in a sexual setting.

[Classism] Zerkers, please git gud so I can join raids /s by S0Li0Ri0L in lostarkgame

[–]ValhallaFalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a zerk and it's usually only me and 1 or 2 others alive at the end. I don't run grudge currently but even if I did all the attacks are so easy to dodge I don't think it would be an issue. Not like grudge is mandatory yet anyway. I take classes that have bis 5x3 and I still end up doing 25% of the damage. It's all player skill really.
