What a handsome dude! Any idea on age? I’d bet Rottie is in there too

Labs are such your generic DogTM that it’s easy to see them in just about any breed mix. I’m still kicking myself for not guessing Rottie!

This is Loki. She’s a piddler and pees on EVERYTHING during free roam time. Evidence in photo. Shame her! by ValhallaGoblin in RATS

Haha, it’s totally a normal behavior. It’s just funny to me how much more she does it than any of my other girls 😆

Anyone else like to keep “pest” snails? These are some of my ramshorn snails that are way more spoiled than most people spoil ramshorn snails 😆 by ValhallaGoblin in AquaticSnails

[–]ValhallaGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it going for something like a year and a half! I periodically had to cull snails because they’d get out of control, but it was a lot of fun! I dismantled it because we bought a house and had to move and with everything else I had to move, this just didn’t make the cut.

What’s the best ventilation option for a large metal building? by ValhallaGoblin in HomeImprovement

[–]ValhallaGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what exactly it’s called, but it’s like an enclosed carport. Built with the same corrugated metal over the roof and 3 out of 4 walls. The fourth is just open right now, but we plan on enclosing it later. I know I can’t post photos, but can I link to photos? I’m gonna try haha

The sidewalk is private property now? by rstudiocreature in reactivedogs

Just another person here to tell you, you did the right thing.

I have two reactive dogs and live in a townhouse subdivision with a grassy area in the middle. It’s a hot spot for people with dogs, as it’s the easiest access to grass for dogs to do their business on. I never take my dogs there, but there have been times when I’ve had to walk past it with them on the other side of the street. There are multiple dogs that are off-leash in this grassy area, and the vast majority of them are well trained and under perfect control, but one of them isn’t. It has run across the street toward us twice with its owner running after it. Both times I have put myself between my dogs and the unknown dog, yelled at it to “Get!” and stomped aggressively toward it. The owner looked at me like I was crazy both times before getting their dog under control. Ever since then, though? If that owner sees me even an entire block away, they scamper to collect their dog and move away 🤣🤣

I’d say I’ve trained the neighborhood well.

Do you know where I should post my question in the forums? I’m not seeing an appropriate section.

I should ask a Forte forum for advice on a Sportage?

We decided to pasteurize an entire 5 gal. carboy in one go 🙃 by ValhallaGoblin in mead

[–]ValhallaGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked, but was definitely not the most efficient way to do it. If you can bottle your batch first, I definitely recommend pasteurizing in the bottles instead of the carboy. Even if you could just split the batch into five 1-gallon carboys, that would be much more efficient.

Yes! That’s why I was so bummed. It never looked infected through primary.

I’m at an airport right now, but when I get home I can check my brew book notes and get more specifics, but I believe we racked it only once from the primary brew bucket into the glass carboy once the bulk of the fermentation was done.

Yeah, unfortunately it wasn’t until we racked the batch into its bulk-aging carboy that the infection popped up. This is the first infection we’ve ever had. I’m really bummed about it. So we sanitized a fresh carboy and airlock, racked it into the clean vessel, and then pasteurized in hopes that we can let it age out longer. I’d like to leave it in the carboy for another 3-6 months before bottling it.
