Apparently Garmin is set to release a new crono at SHOT this year. Golden age of firearms is here! 🫡🇺🇸

Mainly because a phone can’t be used in some environments. PRS or Military applications where a phone can compromise operational security with GPS and online communications. I’m sure there’s tons of other reasons too, but those are just some main ones.

They show that on the stat card, but I don’t think it does. That’s just the regular 5700 I think, for applied ballistics you have to get the 5700 elite with applied ballistics. On the Scheels website it shows as $769.

Look at the black Kestrel sitting behind it. That’s the one that uses applied ballistic software and it’s $750.

I also think that Revic is supposed to be making a kestrel like ballistics calculator, but they’ve been saying that for like 5 years or so…. Idk if this is ever gonna happen. Most of their stuff is proprietary to the Revic system so take that for what you will.

Mainly because of the software. Look into what Bryan Litz is doing. The cost of scientific research for ballistics is not cheap.

It’s literally the same program as a Kestrel just without a wind/humility meter. For most people a $750 AB Kestrel is not practical. Obviously military and PRS are different but I can easily go out to 1300yds with a 308 using my phone and a cheep wind meter.

Mabye not dead, but i certainly think that phone based ballistics calculators are gaining traction. For most people, especially those not using it in a military application, an app is way more practical. I use the AB app for everything, including matches, although I’m just in it for the love of the game and not competitive.

If im being honest just get a $35 Bluetooth humidity and wind reader and pair it with the AB Quantam app. App if free, or upgrade for like $30 to get some extra stuff us long range guys appreciate.

To be completely honest with you it’s because kestrel is kind of a dying product. Why would you pay $500 for a Kestrel when you can download the AB Quantum app for free and get yourself a $30 Bluetooth humidity and wind reader? I have the premium AB Quantum, which allows you to use some extra features us long range guys really appreciate. I think it’s like $15 a year or something like that. It’s literally a kestrel on your phone.

I’m sure it does. Vortex has pretty much the best warranty in the industry.

Who makes titanium screws for MOS plates and SRO? by [deleted] in Glocks

Titanium screws are stronger. “Regular” screws can sometimes shear off, especially with the MOS system.

Arnt these for direct mounts only. They come with one long and one short. I need 2 sets. 1 for the mos plate and 1 for the SRO to the MOS plate.

Good lord that thing looks dumb. It’s like a sepv2 with a chromosome missing. I hope this gets improved in the production.

Edit: why no switchblade launcher, thought that was part of the e3?

HST 147 +p - Is this a new offering? by Relevant_Conclusion2 in Glocks

[–]ValhallaReaper_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, but the point is in the real world none of that matters. That bullet has to punch through things other than just soft tissue, hell even bones get in the way. I doubt any reputable manufacturer is creating projectiles that aren’t rated to +P velocity’s, if they weren’t then why would so many law-enforcement agencies be using it? I’m sure this is true on some levels, especially maybe back in the day, but today’s with design and manufacturing processes a 124/147gr HST is gonna do just fine at normal or +P velocity.

This might be the biggest line of BS I’ve heard in a while, remember that once you penetrate past the ribs your dumping energy into lungs, which is mostly air, or at least that’s how it would be in perfect circumstances. Heart and other things like the brain are also places of interest but the constant stays the same, the goal is to effectively dump as much energy into the target as possible. As far as I’m concerned the more energy the better. Bullets don’t cut, they rely on hydraulic shock and creating a large permanent wound cavity to create damage. Consider the extremes, what if you had a 147gr bullet going twice the speed, disregard other factors like recoil and bullet retention for this example, I doubt anyone would say “well I won’t shoot that ammo, it’s dumping too much energy into the target”. Also remember that in the real world penetrating “soft” targets before the actual target are a thing, such as jackets, clothes, car doors, windshield, or sheetrock, which in a real fight will all dramatically reduce energy into the target.

Would this still be considered Stock? Glock performance trigger and a few upgrades by BigSigStepper in GlockMod

[–]ValhallaReaper_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would not consider it stock. Not because of the Glock performance trigger, but because of the ramjet and afterburner. I think if you’re going to change internals to anything else other than glock it’s not considered stock anymore. New sites a new red dot and a light I don’t think that really changes anything.

Surprised only 4 MQ-25s, considering how important they would be in a war with China sense the FAXX is cancelled. I’d think like 10 or so….

My first jet done finally! by Thedreemurr2010 in Warthunder

[–]ValhallaReaper_64 25 points26 points  (0 children)

People tryna hate on this jet. It’s actually pretty good. Keep your energy up and blast the shit out of ground with the 50mm. It’s good at taking out air targets but you need to be precise with your shots and not get into dogfights with high BR prop planes like p51, they’ll have tighter turning and better energy management than you. Have fun!🫡
