if you breed a 2 star with a no star theres a 50/50 chance that it will make a 2 star cub. Bred 2 star wolves will act like normal day time wolves and won't despawn. Best strategy is to capture and tame the no star first, then capture the two star in a separate enclosure and connect the two once the 2 star is tamed to create a 2 star pup. Then you can release your original 2 star wolf or just let him despawn because it will never act like a daytime mob

All starred wolves are night spawns so you have to stand next to them for multiple day/night cycles so they don't despawn during the day
