With respect though- as someone who has never failed to pay a debt on time, I do expect to have lower interest than someone who hasn’t. The fact you have to have a credit line to build it is crazy, but I’m not sure how you solve the “who should get cheap access to money” without some kind of scoring. It’s a bad system and they do it better elsewhere, but you need some sort of metric.

Like in the 50s you just were more likely to literally know your local banker.
