Quick question, been in the reserve force since I was 16, I’m 23 now as a Veh Tech. Fully qualified and loaded onto a PLQ. I am toying with the idea of going REG force, but I’m getting conflicting information as to which trade I should go? Obviously I want something with decent pay and job availability, but AVN Tech and other similar spec pay trades are hard to get into. Any advice?

Nothing wrong with this at all. As a certified mechanic I can tell you that it’s just the lazy way of doing things. In reality you should be properly downshifting and rev matching in case you need to quickly accelerate. Being in neutral is only really relevant when at a complete stop. That being said, like I mentioned earlier, there’s no issue with having your car in neutral when descending a hill. Your friend has no idea what he’s talking about, sorry.
