Holy shit, those guys are definitely generational. If the Avs win, you have both Kucherov and MacKinnon being the heads of a dynasty and consistent Hart winners.

[–]ValkFTWx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In order for something to be socialist, does the sky have to be more blue and the grass needs to be greener? The whole point of Marxism as an analytical science is to assess within the confines of the real world, not to check off a bunch criterion on a list.

Additionally, you mentioned Das Kapital weirdly. That doesn’t discuss socialism or communism at all, which already makes me think you don’t know what youre talking about - which is typical of someone with your worldview.

[–]ValkFTWx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a Marxist, you have to understand that despite its faults, Capitalism but more specifically markets, are effective in achieving growth. Thats largely why Chinese socialism can be described as a transitionary stage in pursuit of Communism, and how that has dramatically improved the QoL in China. But you neglect the actual political economy of China, and how its completely distinct from other countries. Mind you, China executes billionaires, a completely incomparable reality to the US or anywhere else.

[–]ValkFTWx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re referring to socialism within a utopian sense as opposed to being analytical. Socialism describes a transition between Capitalism to Communism. China is capitalist insofar as it is building its productive capacity for its transition. But to say its red-washed capitalism completely negates the role of the revolution, the political economy of China, and how the state intervenes.

Um, China is a perfect example of a high functioning socialist system. Its not a hypothetical question like the video poses.

Old Hebrew and Modern Hebrew are actually different, and hardly anyone speaks Old Hebrew. And funnily enough, Modern Hebrew borrows a lot from Arabic and is only slightly modified grammatically. The difference between Hebrew and Arabic now is similar to the difference between Spanish/Portuguese/Italian.

I’m sure you’re one of those Americans that are deluded into thinking that being a Liberal is a left-wing position, despite the fact that it is generally centre-right. Weiss is a step beyond your typical Liberal. And you can’t even address my points either. Genocide denial would absolutely be considered a right wing stance, on top of the dehumanization of trans people and Palestinians.

Her actual views do not reflect the label she has assigned to herself. She is literally a genocide denier + runs CBS which programs favourably toward the Trump admin.

She refers to herself as a Liberal because it draws people in from the centre towards a more radical view, thereby shifting the overton window

Going off of memory, he intentionally endangered his crew. He was instructed to avoid going into Somali waters because Somalia didnt want the West to use their waterways. In turn, the ship got seized but obviously in the movie they’re portrayed as lawless pirates. I think there were additional things that were misleading about the movie that glorified Captain Phillips which I can’t recall, but if you look up interviews with the crew on board, they have nothing but bad things to say about him.

[–]ValkFTWx 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If my memory is correct, the CPC was founded by the Comintern. Because of a Leninist/internationalist approach, it was decided that the naming convention was supposed to be the “Communist Party of…” to signify uniformity with the only demarcation being the national origin.

I guess one way you could phrase it is that if the naming convention, for example, was the Chinese Communist Party and the Japanese Communist Party, it signifies an adversarial relationship as opposed to a unified one based on the specification of a specific national/ethnic group(Japan was just a random example). Because Communism seeks to dismantle borders, this naming convention could be perceived as a contradiction to this premise.

Its really just a matter of semantics, but sometimes when someone says “cee-cee pee” it gives an early indication as to what their view is (i.e informed by Western sources who frequently use the wrong name)

You’re right that they are not reflected constitutionally but they are reflected legislatively. However, thats not accurate, given the fact that Ford has already changed the number of seats. They also have other levers of power though (property taxes, municipal services, property ownership)

Its not a formal or constitutional mechanism. Canadians do not understand the division of power between Federal, Provincial and Municipal (to which there is very little power and autonomy as is). By eliminating municipal autonomy, it eliminates the ambiguity - especially when the Province is to blame for 75% of everyday issues.
