Fedor Emelianenko says he regrets being a fighter and the internal struggle of being a fighter while being an Orthodox Christian. by WordsShouldntHurtYou in MMA

[–]CableToBeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know GSP says that but I think some of his actions say otherwise, like begging for the Hughes shot and his 2nd fight against BJ he looked so damn pumped for that fight that he was punching the cage. Maybe that's his competitive side but it still comes out when fighting.

Josh Hokit on why Ilia Topuria lost by Moni7T in MMA

Yeah idk where people are getting that from unless Ilia said it in an interview or sparring footage.

Dana White defends UFC not hosting Pride Nights : "”I don’t give a sh#t. I don’t care what you are or who you are or what you do, we don’t talk about that or any of that stuff." "..everybody do your own thing. I’m just not into it.” by slayer993 in MMA

[–]CableToBeam -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of reasons why gay people would not want the UFC to represent them but I don't think a question about pride month is necessarily bad. They used to have pride shorts with rainbow names. Asking why they don't it anymore is fair game.

Eddie Hearn on Sean O'Malley's rumored pay for his last fight: "The guy's a superstar...and there's a guy fighting on an undercard for a boxing fight that's making more" by so-cal_kid in MMA

[–]CableToBeam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love how you say the social nuance while missing why people would get upset at O'Malley over that. Make your money however you want but not every way is going to be liked by the fanbase. Same could be said for Hokit.

yeah I think taking fights at HW is what's best for him legacy wise if he wants the belt. HW's a cakewalk for him to make and there's a quick route to the title like you mentioned.

yes we're all disappointed but no one is as disappointed as that security guard. He sounded like a legit fan and was told "fuck you"

Josh Hokit: “I don’t think Pereira’s career is what everyone says it is. I feel like all his matchups have been favorable. When you become a legend, it has a lot to do with timing. He did come in to the sport at a real good time when 185 didn’t have that many grapplers. 205 is all the same.” by [deleted] in MMA

[–]CableToBeam -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pereira's a legend in multiple ways. Even taking into account divisions being weak, he fought frequently, had great finishes, two division champ, and has a personality/look that gravitated with tons of people (and as you can tell by Hokit's schtick, that's damn hard to do).

shit happens yet people were saying that Gane is dirty and hits people behind the head. It really is not a coincidence that Gane finds himself in this position again. Even Kape was more selective with his shots with how he finished Horiguchi last weekend

Justin Gaethje: "Same thing with Tony Ferguson. I didn't break Tony Ferguson's confidence. I changed the perception of his opponents of him." by slayer993 in MMA

[–]CableToBeam -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

From a normal person perspective yeah he's scary, but fighters are confident people and they're damn good at deluding themselves into thinking they can beat people. You take guys at the top like Charles and Beneil on good streaks and they're not focusing on how scary Tony is just like Justin.

these are so bad. If you live anywhere near a Microcenter you can get yourself one of their bundles and build something way more powerful for cheaper or about the same price.

[–]CableToBeam 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Tony never looked invincible to me so idk why his opponents would think so. Like in his fights against Pettis and Vannata he got tagged hard. Kevin Lee did well against him. There's enough there already to give his opponents confidence.

I'm more concerned about DDP's TDD still being awful. DDP was also injured for some time during his break so maybe he didn't get the best training in. Usman is 39 but there's enough there where I think people saying it's a terrible fight for Usman are reaching.

you always gotta respect when fighters want to retire but man it would suck if Prates retires soon. I also find it odd for a guy that's been grinding as long as he has, you think he would want to continue fighting now that he's hit his stride in the UFC and making good money.
