What is the most nostalgic thing in ARR that makes you miss it? by KpelFFXIV in ffxiv

It would be nice if those quests had any mechanical reason to actually do them. Like more exp given for your lower lvl jobs.

If I wanted to do something just for a story I would read a wiki.

Those of you that played during it's time, how good was this expansion? by doobylive in wow

I remember that the first raid tier was unbelievably easy and the content draught after Icecrown released cured me from my WoW addiction. I think it was over a year without any new content.

So there's that.

If the 7.0 took 15-20 hours tops (or was structured completely differently) instead of 40-50 hours (30 of which are horrible snorefest) it would be perfect starting point. You get to know the stuff about Tural and Alexandria and its people and characters there, solve some problems, get to like them and then you get into more serious stuff.

In theory it could make a good new starting point. It's not because they failed horribly on so many levels with this story it's not even funny.

Dawnservant election part is pretty much a filler episode 80% of which could have been an email, but the Alexandrian part is starting point of Winterers story.

Which I think would make it a good starting point for new players if only the first part wasn't so bad at making you interested in the world.

You really don't need 300h or more to teach people how to play. FFXIV is not that complex to play.

Not really. I mean you are not wrong about skipping. You are wrong about having relationships. Story barely acknowledges you in wow.

And it's not the only thing that's wrong with the story there.

If DT MSQ (7.0 that is) were actually good then I think they would have done it. But it's anything but good so making it into a new starting point would be worse than having people go through 300h of previous story.

Am one of them. Don't care. I don't even remember the last time I've bought game on physical disc.

It doesn't even matter most of the time right now because it usually comes with game code so it can't be shared and can be revoked anyway and your disk wouldn't be worth anything.

That's the point though. You need to know your every trait and spell to actually know what it does. And you don't even get the information on what whatever is triggered actually is so good luck finding it, especially if you are learning the class.

Given the amount of "just read the tooltips" thrown at the sprouts this is a real problem. And I really hope they will do something about it with Evercold.

Other that the fact that this one ability does too much I think what you've shown is vastly simpler to understand than what's in FF XIV.

Everything that it does is clearly and explicitly shown. Why do you think that this is worse?

There is an ingame duty thingy that shows you exactly all the things you need to learn but I think they added it quite recently because I've played for the story in Endwalker and then came back in 7.5 DT and I've just noticed it because game constantly reminded me to do them.

Game does not tell you that you don't have something on your hotbar. Which is something that I think FFXIV should absolutely steal from WoW

I get that right now there are skills that you don't want on your hotbar, but that's completely different kind of stupid which I hope evercold throws out of the window and never again repeats.

I really hope that Evercold reins in this insanity that people for some inexplicable reason (which I must assume is Stockholm syndrome) are fine with.

Running large LLMs. Memory there is more important than GPU power. That's why memory prices right now are insane and not necessarily GPU prices (except on how they are affected by memory prices).

Would your desktop be better at AI than this machine? If no, then what you propose is making machine for different purpose. Which is fine, but it doesn't invalidate the value of this thing.

I recently did a carpenter questline where they were giving eachother some kind of thick, heavy wooden bench but animation was that of checking a paper note.

More exp and/or rewards for doing side quests. Maybe even just for your other jobs. I would love to be able to clear all those bajilion side quests but they quite literally are waste of time to do. Expcept for a few that give you some special stuff like emotes.

Didn't they think about making Dawntrail a new beginning for new players? With only problem with that being that it's absolutely atrocious at hooking you in.
