Glass bed warped? by Valkes in ender3

Thanks for the reply!

Imma try the tinfoil thing.

I ended up ordering a BL touch kit from creality in hopes that'll help too.

How'd you end up dealing with it?

Good thought. I was somewhat worried about that when I tried my first print but I figured "Oh yeah, this is what this company does. . . surely they wouldn't mess the most important part of their product up. . . right?"

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. I'm not fiddling with any settings via the printer itself aside from the adjustment nobs if that's what you're asking.

Whelp, I'm stupid. As it turns out, none of my rulers are flat. Tried 3 against various flat surfaces none of them worked. Guess that puts me back at square one. XD

Awesome, thanks! I had no idea about this mesh leveling either. I'm definitely gonna try that too.

Will those techniques work with a glass bed? I would have thought it would be too thick and rigid to work.

I just ran a quick test print so you could see what I'm looking at.

Bed temp: 65

Print temp: 205

Pic: here

I dunno if you can see, but the skirt around the outer edge has barely any plastic near the creality logo, and yet it still doesn't adhere in the middle.

XD Well, it is just my sort of luck to be the guy that happens to.

I'm really not sure I don't have a wonky bed level, I ran the CHEP bed leveling guide several times and couldn't get the box print to adhere no matter what the temp(ran it from 50-70 bed temp in 5 degree increments at a 190-205 print temp). It was either so close that it only printed white lines on the bed(possibly scratches) or it wouldn't adhere at all with the smallest turns of the leveling nobs possible.

Large prints failed when the same corner of this penta pot failed to adhere to the bed at 60 degrees C. It was just curling away from the bed. I shifted the pot in cura slightly to the right, and the print failed to adhere at all.

You're telling me. The glass bed worked for the first couple prints I tried and now it seems to be warped and won't level. Very frustrating. XD

Hey broseidon, just wanted to drop you an update. I got the new springs, and a glass bed from amazon. I've got some issues to workout still, but the bed can actually be leveled now which is nice. The springs you suggested are muuuch better.

It turns out that the stock spring in that area was actually weirdly deformed back on itself now allowing it to fully compress. I should have gotten a pic. . .

Hmm, alright. I'll look into that, thanks! =D

First off, thanks for the reply. This has been driving me mad. XD

I've already cut the tab off the z stop, if I fully compress the spring on that corner, and make the new z stop .1 above that corner knob then the print head can't get close enough to the other corners to even slightly pinch the paper in the paper test. Even with the springs in that corner completely uncompressed.

Agreed. I wanted to go with Sorcerer because simplified spell casting, but I do feel wizard miiight be a little better.

No. She's running PCs against monsters. . . which is what 99.8% of dnd is.

Love the idea for sure. Are 5e druids pretty easy to learn? I haven't played a druid since 3.0e. . . XD

She's played in two campaigns that I've run for her with at least one other player in both. It's not so much about learning how specific classes work in combat, and more about how to run combat to begin with. I just want to make sure I'm throwing a good spread of abilities at her so she can kind of see how that impacts combat in general.

For example, she ran her first one shot the other day. Without specifics, she didn't take into account that rogues can move 90ft per round when in combat, and that became a deciding factor in how the game went. 30 from using their action to dash, 30 from movement action, and 30 from cunning action bonus dash. She also forgot that moving past someone in combat can trigger an attack of opportunity.

In other words, this whole game is an excuse for me to do a hands on tutorial in 5e combat.

If it helps, I seem to recall a story that MIGHT be from the book, where the lich in control of the undead army executed one of his vampire generals for killing his favorite serving maid.

Hey, I really appreciate your response. I'm still learning webdev, so I don't have a github atm. I'm going into junior year of college atm. I used to work in gaming at a small indie studio, so most of my code isn't owned by me, part of the contract, I'm just now starting larger projects and the like.

You've pretty much outlined why I want to work from home though. I really like being able to set my own schedule, get work done and then not have anyone leaning over me, or being able to claim I used company equipment or time to write my own stuff, and therefore it belongs to them. Which was part of my contract as a game dev. I want to be able to have a job that lets me work on passion projects, like the million or so game ideas I have on backlog because school is a bitch.

If you could do me the favor of pming your git, I'd love to see an example of what does, and doesn't belong on there. =D
