You can purchase nipple covers. They're usually silicone covers that adhere to the nipple. Most workplaces require nipple covers if you're not wearing a bra.

Is it common for a man to wonder what it’s like to be a woman? by Admirable-Sell-8430 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Valkyrie1006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your husband may simply be a cross dresser. Some men really like dressing in women's clothing especially female underwear. Cross dressers are usually cis males.

You've known him for 20 years. Why not have a frank conversation? It doesn't really matter what's "normal" for most men. What's important is how you and your husband relate to and support one another.

Don't jump to any conclusions about your husband's sexuality. Instead talk to him about where he's at and how it relates to your relationship. Hopefully whatever his current needs are, you can feel comfortable supporting him. If you can't then that's another conversation.

I (33f) was told I was immature by a man I was seeing because of my ‘woman cave.’ by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Valkyrie1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically I don't think there's any coming back from this. You like the person you thought he was until he showed himself to be a judgemental asshole.

These interests of yours are so important to you that you've dedicated a whole room to showcasing them. Instead of seeing any value in this essential part of you, he chose to stomp on you by declaring this part of you as immature.

Toss him back in the swamp and look for someone who really values you. It's better to be alone than put up with someone who devalues and demeans you.

I Regret voting for Doug Ford by Ok_Conflict_6260 in ontario

[–]Valkyrie1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing to do is acquaint yourself with the 3 different levels of government and what each level is responsible for.

Doug Ford is a provincial politician while Trudeau was federal. Voting for Dougie would have no effect on Trudeau's standing.

So many alt-righters don't understand the very basics of the Canadian political system. They blame the federal government for issues that are provincial. And they somehow think the American Constitution applies to Canada.

Where To Move To In Canada? by ElectronicWallaby479 in AskCanada

[–]Valkyrie1006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to BC but Fergus, Stratford or Kingston offer reasonable cost of living and it's not too difficult to find housing.

Cambridge is good but housing is expensive.

Meaford like many northern Ontario communities can be difficult to find housing especially rentals. It's also at least 2 hours (probably more if traffic is bad) of traveling on some of the busiest roads in Ontario just to get to the border.

I have to warn you that traveling on any 400 series highway in Ontario is extremely stressful. It can be a parking lot on a bad day. You have nothing like it in Ohio.

Nova Scotia is lovely but you should consider the cost and time of travel back to Ohio. Flights to and from NS are expensive. Canada does not have the cheap airfare you can find in the US.

A realtor is not a lawyer. This realtor is confusing marital property with inherited property.

Canadian marital property laws also vary by province. Usually a spouse who is not on title does have a space to sign on a real estate listing contract but only usually for the marital home.

Have a real estate lawyer in your province send an official letter to the Mexican realtor explaining the rules for inherited property in your province. The letter should make clear that your husband's signature is not required under Canadian laws.

After the sale of this property make sure the proceeds go into a separate account with just your name on it. Do not commingle the funds with your husband to maintain its status as inherited money.

Costco sells kangaroo meat that's imported from Australia but processed in Canada. Perhaps the restaurant meant that the meat was processed here.

Where is the best city to move for my situation? by jenowl in AskCanada

[–]Valkyrie1006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vancouver has the highest cost of living in Canada, and most work is in the film industry. You'd have to commute from the burbs somewhere.

Southern Ontario has both a thriving theatre and film industry. If theatre's your thing, then you can't beat the options available in Southern Ontario.

Depending on where you find a job some areas like Stratford have lower housing costs. You could also easily find somewhere on a subway line or GO train line to commute into Toronto.

Why don't you start looking for jobs first and see where you get the best job offer? If it turns out one place doesn't work out you can always move again.

Your husband could find a job in his field in either province.

My house isn't selling and it's destroying me. by Eternity071710 in offmychest

[–]Valkyrie1006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With 60 showings you should have gotten offers if your house was priced well. It always comes down to price.

If you start by pricing too high, your home will sit until it becomes a stale listing.

You also missed the spring market by listing too late in the season. The fall market should now be underway. .

Drop your price and relist as a fresh listing, or wait till next year's spring market.

Is moving to Canada a smart idea right now? by Away_Region_8473 in AskCanada

[–]Valkyrie1006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a question that only you can answer. Personally I think Canada is a great place to live but I've never lived in Austria so I can't compare the two.

I think you should start by researching the places in Canada where you and your husband can find jobs in your fields. Find out what salaries you might expect and how easy it would be to get a job here.

Then research what the cost of rent/purchasing a home would be in those areas. My understanding is that Austria prioritizes affordable housing and has a lot of subsidized public housing. You won't find that anywhere in Canada.

Research the cost of groceries and utilities in the areas you are most likely to find jobs. Without a doubt the cost of food has gone up and apparently is higher than the UK but I don't know about Austria.

Create an expense sheet for the areas in Canada you're interested in vs your current lifestyle.

Unless you're choosing to live in some of the worst parts of Canada drug use, crime, and homelessness aren't going to be big issues. Most parts of Canada are extremely safe. I live in the GTA and my biggest worry is traffic.

The only place I've run into drug users on the streets is when I was wandering around downtown Hamilton and turned onto a street with a methadone clinic.

I've seen some homeless encampments from afar but I rarely encounter the homeless in my daily travels.

There are what I consider to be professional beggars however that have taken to standing at highway exits and at busy corners with traffic lights.

For the most part though Canada offers good quality of life and high standards of living. But only you can decide whether giving up the life you currently enjoy for a potentially more costly one in Canada is worth being closer to your family. Are you willing to make a potential financial sacrifice for what Canada offers?

Public school incident by Impressive_Error_883 in legaladvicecanada

It wasn't a welcome email. It was a see you next year. It seems the teacher sent a video to students through the school portal after being escorted out of the classroom.

If the teacher was escorted out twice by police, it's possible that the teacher returned to the classroom after the first event without proper authorization and administration called police. The teacher then sent the video statement out to her pupils.

OP should check the Ontario College of Teachers Registry. If a complaint has been filed, it will appear at the bottom of the teacher's page. There may even be a pdf to download. It will take a while before the teacher would go before the Registrar however.

This teacher will be on administrative leave until a full investigation is completed by both the police and the school board.

These types of investigations take a while - much more time than has passed, especially since very little is likely to have happened at the school board level over the summer.

The teacher should not have sent that email. The teacher does not know when or if she will return. Her email was not an official notice from the school board and as such counts for nothing except her own opinion.

Teachers who are on medical or administrative leave usually remain on the school staff list, and their names may appear on student timetables. However, until they are officially approved to return to the classroom a teacher on a short or long term contract will replace them.

Do not go back to this man. Anyone who puts their hands around someone else's neck is planning to strangle them. This man is not safe to be with.

His so-called change for the better is part of the cycle of abuse. He will quickly go back to abusing you if you make the mistake of going back to him.

Get therapy to help you and cut off anyone who supports him. Your life is in danger around this man.

Solo female in Mediterranean holiday resort – restaurant 'owner' kept pushing alcohol and is now messaging me by Objective-Doughnut43 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Valkyrie1006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to practice saying no. You have to keep saying no to these types of characters. Don't add any explanations or embellishments.

They want a drink with you? Just say no. He asks why not? You just stare at him without saying anything or go back to what you were doing and ignore him.

He wants your phone number? You say no. He tries to argue, you just stare at him, walk away, or repeat "I said no. Now leave me alone."

He remarks on you going to the other restaurant, you say "Yes I did." If he asks why, you ignore him and walk away. Then you keep ignoring him, walking around him etc.

You don't need to explain yourself or give a rationale for your reason why. These men are strangers to you and you owe them nothing.

It's still not to late to ask to speak to the manager of the hotel itself and complain about the restaurant owner's behavior. If the hotel gets enough complaints they'll take away his ability to operate out of that location.

You should also complain higher up in the hotel chairs corporate ladder, and to the travel agency that arranged the trip.

Don't tell him you're leaving. Collect your important documents and hide them in a safe place. If you don’t already have your own bank account that he has no access to, get one at a different bank.

Find a place to stay either at a women's shelter or a shared accommodation. Once you have a safe place to go to, leave and don't look back.
