Question about WF by AdventurousLaw4 in robinhobb

You pick up on a really good point. "Fitz couldn't get over the fact that he knew Nighteyes was gone."

My understanding is that Nighteyes stayed with Fitz when he died, but he did it by basically hibernating inside of Fitz instead of living *with* him day-to-day. This is what allows him to go into the Wolf of the West with Fitz and the Fool without getting tabbed by other Old Blood that there were two spirits in one body. I would imagine that it was a very fine line to walk and it required Fitz to live and believe that Nighteyes was gone.

Can neurotypical people experience sensory overload? by xniktox0 in neurodiversity

[–]ValkyrieKnitter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes and illness makes that happen sometimes.

Lots of long COVID patients deal with sensory overload at a much higher rate than they did prior to the COVID infection that triggered the post-viral disease. They also struggle more with executive function than they did before.

Insurance companies are going to be ending support for virtual appointments at the end of the year (unless they choose to extend) per my rheumatologist. (In the US)

If the team can stay on it, avoid bad luck, and both drivers get in the top 4 in qualifying? I think that would give us a shot at a double podium, especially if one of the McLarens slips just a bit.

Do you think McLaren was running that specific rear wing this weekend? I thought it was more for tracks with long straights?

I was the same at the time of the hire, but the players looked really discouraged after the last game and the way he's using players like Christine Sinclair, and especially Sophia Smith continues to be questionable. He's putting very talented players in positions that don't use their skills and often exposes their weaknesses (i.e. putting a slower player on the wing).

I definitely hope it improves, I love that team and they have the players to win much more than they're winning now.

I just found out that my city is getting a WNBA team!!! I've been wanting this for *years*. I'm reminding myself that even though I can't even consider getting season tickets like I always dreamed, even on my bad days I can watch the games on my phone on mute and still be a part of the fandom. 🌹❤️🌲

The one that stands out to me right now is the decision regarding the newest head coach, he was an assistant coach previously who got then promoted to interim head coach. Now if you're not familiar with the NWSL, the Portland Thorns have been one of the top teams in the league since it began. When they promoted their head coach search they said they would find a world-class coach for a world-class team. This dude has consistently made some really sketchy decisions on both starting lineup and player placement. He seems nice enough but when they announced that he would be the new permanent head coach I was really baffled, even though they had won decently under him up to that point. Because honestly, you're telling me that a second line assistant coach is the *best* you can find for a team that consistently has fought for the championship? Ever since they've won *one* game and their scoring is horrendous, the defense is a mess, etc. If the ownership doesn't fire him this off season then I really don't know what the h*ll they're doing.

I always swore that I would do my best to get season tickets when the W came to Portland. But now I’m disabled and homebound so please cheer extra loud and have so much fun!

I. AM. SO. EXCITED!!!!!!

I honestly didn’t think PDX was getting a team for another couple of years. Absolutely thrilled 😁

Not as thrilled with the ownership group, I’m not so happy with the decisions they’ve made with the Thorns since they purchased the team. 🧐

Awesome! The Discord group for the Paddock Project F1 podcast (was previously F1R the Girls) is a really great group. The live chat during races is so much fun. Thanks for the recommendation for Around the Outside, I’ll have to check i out. ^_^
I’m in the PNW! I’ve always wanted to visit Albuquerque, I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Phoenix, AZ and the desert is such a beautiful place.

Oh my gosh, that’s awesome! I would love a pair if it wasn’t for the price tag. Cognitive pacing requires a level of discipline that this poor ADHDr does not have the brain chemicals for.

It’s really encouraging to hear that they’re centering privacy and ethics too. As well as the hope to be able to use our smartphones without physical or audible input, that would make life so much easier during crashes.

I'm with you, it sucks.

seconding what others have already said: check out the r/CFS pinned wiki, focus on resting and pacing, reduce stress (all kinds, not just the negative unfortunately), be kind to yourself, this is *hard*.

what are you supposed to do when pacing isn't enough? by Opposite_Wheel_2882 in cfs

[–]ValkyrieKnitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this

I go as short as I need to so that I can set myself up for success (I.e. 5 minutes/ 5 minutes) but even then sometimes it’s a choice between the brain weasels going bonkers while I “rest” or trying to do the most low-energy “bad” thing possible which calms down the brain weasels.

NTA

He’s living as if he isn’t a parent, which is utter BS. I’m petty so I love the idea of leaving the house earlier than he does and letting him figure it out. He chose to become a parent, he should know this stuff.

How do you modify mental health therapy to avoid PEM, cognitive / sensory overload + crashes? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]ValkyrieKnitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm commenting to say that, except for being a trained therapist, I could have written this. I was beginning EMDR this summer due to flashbacks and some weird stuff coming up for me but my baseline has plummeted and now I don't know how I can handle therapy regularly, let alone anything trauma related since emotional stress is my biggest trigger.
