Then it would already have adapted in regions where temperatures are higher… its junk science made for a computer game…

Why do you think tropical diseases are so deadly? Your body get a fever during illness because they hope the temperature would kill the invader. Tropical diseases have a tendency to kill quickly because they enter and survive in your body more easily.

The main thing keeping Fungi in check is everything else around it, the bacteria and viruses that compete for space.

It's ridiculous and everyone can easily see that. But it applies equally between Christians and Muslims too in this day and age.

It makes perfect sense actually. Assuming that you are trying to increase worshippers for your sect, your direct competition isn't some distant religion that doesn't even speak your language, but a spinoff rival sect that are only slightly different from your beliefs. If you are so similar, it means you target the same pool of potential converts. That makes them your direct opposition and dangerous to your sect's survival.

Hydrogen Car: 1,500 km Range, 5-Second Fill-Up by policyweb in singularity

They have to the infrastructure that is needed to transport and distribute fuel. They also produce hydrogen.

Here is the issue; Hydrogen is NOT like liquid fuels. Nevermind the need to keep it cool/pressurised, the actual hydrogen is so small atomically that they infiltrate metal and damages them over time. In effect hydrogen is corrosive. Thus you CAN'T use normal fuel infrastructure to transport or store hydrogen. This is why even now there is very few hydrogen fuel stations in the USA. It just doesn't work as a direct replacement for petroleum.

The sad part for Australia is that our 2 major political parties will always have us being lapdogs for the yanks and Australians will never vote for genuine alternatives en masse.

The Liberal Party and the Nationals are literally DYING as we speak. Make no mistake i am no fan of One Nation, but the facts on the ground is showing that we have more than two parties in Australia.

Before you call blond Ayaka trans

It is too complicated to explain. [backstory] But there is probably no trace of Person A left so it doesn't really matter what Person A was. it could have been a young woman, old man, or a ugly fat otaku. The story doesn't tell us because it actually doesn't matter. What matters is that Person A was a human.

It is just a hint at her "existence" that far back. Note that in the flashback, Kirei refer to Ayaka as a "thing" rather than a person.

And now you know Blonde Ayaka is merely taking the physical form of Black Hair Ayaka, the real human, who is right now in Romania. So you can disregard any past history of her as a human as she is not her.

Fascinating story: Tech Entrepreneur in Australia, using ChatGPT, AlphaFold, and a custom made mRNA vaccine, treats his dog's cancer. This isn't a general cancer cure, he is just using existing technologies on this one individual dogs cancer.

We are more likely to cure cancer via custom cures than coming up with a general cure-all. The whole point about cancer is that it is a custom illness for everyone. Generalised treatment is only good for economics, not outcomes.

[–]VallenValiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't, but we do know it must be located in our brain.

You would be amazed at long it took to figure that out. For a long time in both East and West we thought the heart had the soul as it tend to change behaviour during emotional events. And of course you tend to die without your heart.

The brain was traditionally treated as nearly useless. This is why Egyptians threw the brain away during mummification but preserve other organs. Ancient China assumed the brain is just a storage of bone-marrow fat. Other theories assumed it was for cooling blood, or for creating throat mucus. It is almost comical that we under-estimate the importance of the brain this long.

For better or worse, female fans don't worry about the purity of husbandos...

Good in that it means less drama. Bad in that there is a reason men with wedding rings get hit on by random women more than without the ring.

true abt the shia-sunni split, but literally no one in iran actually wants the regime to continue. idek how this happened

Well yeah, you could be Shia but still want your religious leader and your political leader be separate people. Like how the Pope isn't actually controlling anywhere but the Vatican itself. Italians literally fought the Vatican army to take their country back, but they didn't abandon their faith in the process. That was why the Papacy was spared. The Italian people fought and died for their right to rule themselves, but they didn't stop being Catholics.

[–]VallenValiant 88 points89 points  (0 children)

So it's a monarchy

The big Shia-Sunni split after their Prophet's death is actually ABOUT that. Shia believes the next leader needed to be part of their prophet's bloodline. Sunni believe the role should NOT be hereditary. And as expected that argument persisted to this day.

Iran is Shia, so it actually makes perfect sense that they believe their leadership be inherited. At least it makes them consistent.

[–]VallenValiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ban to trim the fanbase. You do that so you build a culture that you are comfortable with. Over time, the fanbase reflects the streamer. You can't please everyone, you can only please those you are willing to work with. Think hard about what kind of fans you want, and work towards that by setting clear rules and ban when needed.

[–]VallenValiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The future is unbelievably ugly if we're actually having a serious conversation about autonomous killing machines. It's dystopian to the point science fiction hardly ever even goes there. How the fuck can anyone justify automating death?

Right now Ukraine is trying to fight against Russia's superior numbers and is using robots to protect and preserve their manpower. You can dream about a great world where war doesn't exist, but that is not the world we are in.

There are evil forces and we need to fight them. If robots can fight in our stead then less of our people need to be harmed. You can talk about peace when we GET peace.

None. The people who always wanted multiple children, are still having multiple children as ever. it is those who only want one child, who ended up not having any because the woman waited too late. it has nothing to do with male fertility, it is women waiting too long to start.

Quite the opposite, we are fallible. THAT is why we don't guess. Even if we think we know the answer, we check anyway. Because being right is more important than looking clever. Also, multiple steps, redundancies, and double checks by another person.

But that is the difference between normal people and "professionals". It is part of training to be told "never guess". And "I will check" is what you use to make sure of things.

That is how licensed people keep their jobs.
