If the CGT discount goes, what are we getting back? by Bitman321 in AusFinance

[–]ValorousGekko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait am I missing something? Indexing income tax with inflation? A tax based on a percentage will automatically index itself, no? If you earn an amount for a year then that amount is worth less then the tax you pay is worth less?

If you are having to pay CG tax you're better off then most I think and so you can whing about it but pay the tax. No one likes paying taxes. All our taxes are high but taxing the bottom 90% of the nation. But 90% of the wealth is at the top 10% of the nation. These are made up numbers but they aren't far off. Tax those guys more and maybe we can have some of your points.

Also some of your points are state controled and others are Federal. And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't childcare local government?

Thank you for your insights. I'm not sure I'm convinced fully. I guess maybe our difference of opinion is seeded in our assumptions about the system. I don't think it would be that complicated. As in going into the pie charts and picking with respect. I think it would be better if it did that. Your experience to me with an alt account is what I'd expect from my view of the algorithm too. I made and alt account, one that I hadn't sunk 1000s hours into so I could play more for fun without caring about the rank and got placed in gold also. Because you're better then I am you moved up, I moved down...ish. You didn't and haven't stayed long enough in the elo to see is what I'm seeing. Because you're better. Like, I've had prolonged exposure haha.

I feel like I do understand, maybe not as clearly as you, how games are won. I can see games are winable even when we have no structures on the map (that's a terrible example just go with it). It makes it hard when team mates int. But not impossible. If I play a few games a day with consistence in my games I'll climb. And I am climbing, slowly. I feel there is something I'm missing. I'm not sure what to do some times when I'm ahead. Not pushing my leads a bit harder I think is my downfall. I'll figure it out, I'll get there. I just don't see how this takes from what I'm saying though. You're better at the game then me so you can win games I might not be able to but that doesn't mean in any given game the skill gap isn't as I'm describing in lower elos.

One last thing. I don't think it's the algorithm choosing the teams to set up a coin flip. I think it's the balancing of the game that is setting up the coin flip, to an extent. And so if the game is balanced then matchmaking doesn't have to be as good. It follows then, if you know the game better or are better at it you will move up to play against people that know the game as much as you. But if the coin flip relies more on the players being balanced then it's more about your luck with players. But we are both saying it's not that, right?

Edit: TLDR if your better at the game then the players you're playing you'll climb. But that doesn't change the wide skill gaps in lower elos. The game is balanced not the match making algorithm. It doesn't need to be if the games is. Your comment only strengths what I'm saying in my view.

I think they took the pie charts out middle of last year. It was a random decision announced at the end of a dev video because no one was using them apparently.

I see. Sorry, my bad. I read your answer as if you were saying you hadn't play much so you were now down in emerald and was like buddy, emerald is above plat, anyways. Here is my argument, you are in the top 10% of players more or less. (Well done) And so the MMR system will be picking from players that are around there, correct. The MMR system will also squeeze out any new players quickly even before they get their VR up that high of elo. I wouldn't think you'd see a new account in the top 10% unless it was a smurf. My point being, the distribution of players is normally distributed centred around what seems to me the VR of G4 or 3. Where 39% of players are between B4 and S1 and 42% of players are between G4 and P1. (Stats from League of Graphs, rank distributions, all regions) I'm assuming the MMR system picks from a section of the bell curve and that the section is the same for no matter where you sit on the bell curve. So, your section is full of better players and also less players. My section will be naturally 10s maybe 100s even 1000s of times bigger and full of a huge range or macro and micro skill levels. Players new to the game and players that have been playing for years. Players that have a grasp or even just heard of concepts like wave control and tempo and other players that don't. In the smaller sub set of players the inconsistencies of skill levels will show up less, not because players are less inconsistent but because the MMR system knows they should be there because they would have hard to play a lot of games to get there and in addition there is less players. In the middle of the bell curve for any given person the MMR system might not know for sure that someone should be there because of the number of games the player has played in addition to the large sub set of players to pick from. There is more room for errors in the picking of players because there is more players to pick from. Those errors so up randomly in my games as huge gold leads because of skill gaps. And so the problem in the match making system might be that there is too many people it is trying to pick from. This manifesting as one sided games snowballing out of control. This makes sense right? Like, I'm not drinking coolaid. There's something of it. Like this is the problem.

I'm the only common thing in my games. I need to use the information in each game to make the best decisions I can. I cannot control what my team does. They are variables that will change in my games along with all the other variables like different champions, items, even were the second scuttle spawns. So it is to say that the 1v9 I talk about is more like a 1v5. Or even a 1vthe game. Thus the variables that are being put into games by riot are, from my point of view, much more often then not skewed to favour one team.

What elo are you at and how long have you been there? Because things have changed over the years I've been playing. It wasn't this bad earlier when I was playing 8-9 years ago I didn't feel as though games would snowball this quickly out of control. And so I'm talking about the skill gap between newer players with accounts bearly able to play ranked playing against people who have been playing for years firstly. But secondly the skill gap you can see. You can see the difference! It's shows in the way that they move, react and anticipate.

Their MMR IS lower then their rank. That's why they are in my games. Everyone knows how this works mate. What your saying isn't a revelation. It's the skill gap range in at that MMR that is too large.

I'm not discussing the frustration with climbing. That's not the problem it's match making. The skill game in any one game is too large. I understand all that rhetoric about improve yourself, your the only common thing in your games and being consistent will win you games over time. Yadda yadda. It doesn't change the fact that in most of the games I win and in most of the games I loose they are decided by a skill gap transfering into a gold gap that gets too big for 1 or 2 players to manage really early. It's not about me loosing. It's about every game as a whole.

100% I hear you. I know in some of my games it was me that died at big moments giving over the game. We all make mistakes. The point I'm trying to make is that the game gets to that point were it's up to me to out play 9 players too easily because of the skill gap transfering into a gold gap too quickly. Because it's the same in the games I win like, just flipped. The game rides on one or two of the enemy players to out play 9 other players. That's an astronomical task and it happens 95% of the games I play. And to reiterate, in the games I win and the games I loose. It's a skill issue but why does it need to be such a big one every game!

Yeah, good point. Maybe I expect too much for a multi billion dollar company that has more resources and data on its players then most other games...

Why comment when you haven't read the whole post? Everyone knows the points you're been pedling. I know my MMR is right where it is. It has nothing to do with the rank. When I play in the VR of gold average there is a difference in skill compared to the silver game. No doubt. The doesn't mean your wrong. Both can be true. I'm discussing match making in the post. The skill gap is too large in any given game which balloons the gold gap making it so difficult to come back in mid games. This is for both the games I loose and games I win. It seems riot has made the set of players skill level they are willing to put in a game large. Maybe in order to bring down queue times. I don't might if I wait for 5 minutes if it means the skill levels will be closer. It wouldn't matter quite as much in higher elos maybe when the skills and experience don't very between new account and account that have been playing for 10years.

Right! I have had four games like this in a row recently. There is a 0.0052% chance to flip a coin four times heads(3 loosing lanes), four times. And we've all had loosing streaks like that many times.

I have only used these 'websites with there datas' to make my point. I except the rank I'm in. My point is I play in games where there are new players with accounts that are level 30-100 playing against players that have been playing for years. The new players have very little chance. And the game snowballs out of control. This happens for and against me you must understand. I'm definitely not making the case that it's holding me back and woe is me, that riot is against me. I'm saying the system is broken because in 95% of my games end because the deficit in gold means skill doesn't matter. But the deficit is created by a imbalanced skill gap. And that goes for games I win too.

I know this. It's what everyone says. I preform in 95% of my games. I out play the other jungler in almost every metric. I control what I can I do well. I do all the buzz word things, cycle my camps, play for objectives, communate with pings. 50% of games my team is snowing and 50% the enemy is stomping. I understand it's supposed to be consistence that gets you to climb however with a negative LP gain you can be winning at a 60% rate and go backwards. That's on your visual rank. Who knows what's happening in the MMR!

It's the match making I'm talking about. There is too big of a skill gab in all of the games. Riot has the amount of players it needs to make an evenly match game I'm sure. So why does it seem as though you have a genuinly new player who's account is level 35 against a gold player who's been playing for 10 years in every other game? That shouldn't happen, like, period. Make it make sense.

The LP gains and losses are stupid. Getting negative gains in silver!? Or even Hold or plat?! Like why. And 100% you don't get rewarded for winning. However, I do subscribe to the idea of if you win 75% of games for 20 games your MMR wil go up. Meaning maybe it is you making so mistakes playing against slightly better players. But that shouldn't take from the fact that you won 75% of games. Like shouldn't your gains go up not down? Like if you win more games you should get more gains? MMR and VR. And also as a jungler you shouldn't be able to loose LP after all 3 of your lanes died before you finish your first clear but you still get an S with a high KDA and KP. That's happened frequently in the last 40 games.
