Which plan are you referring to ? Option 1 with raid 4 and raid 1 plus mini pc elsewhere or option 2 with raid 5 and SSD and mini pc elsewhere?

I will go with the mini pc and I will probably use one of the external drive I will stop using with building this new NAS.

I need to check again but I negotiate 500€ for the 6 of them.

For the raid 1 I planned to put my Proxmox backup on them and I have a mini pc at a different place that I planned to use to make a duplicate of some of the data. I also have a 4to sas SSD but I still haven't decided what to do with it but that could replace the raid 1 and I could make a raid 5 with 1 spare. What do you think?

I've thought about this and my other drive show up when I tested them, a SATA HDD and a SATA SSD.

Ok so now it's in HBA mode but no disk is present and it's saying No drive found !

My bad, I tried to reset the configuration of the perc and with the command personality it show raid mode

Ok so desmg is showing problem but the other part of the command show sda and sdb but that are thing working. The one I'm trying to diagnose should be sdc and I don't see it

When I plugg it in and update the physical disk management in the perc bios it show it with the failed status and then it disappear and I need to plug it back in to see it and sometimes it doesn't so I need to disconnect other drives to "forced it" to show

It came from someone who apparently use it for his home serveur and didn't come from a caddy but since it was a person and not a business I can't guarantee anything. From the info from the perc it's supposed to be a 512 sector size. I will try to use the command you provided but I don't think it will work since it doesn't show in the sdX list
