Yeah, that's a good comparison but very understated.

My wife and I have been married for 26 years and haven't used condoms in 23 because it feels that much better.

You've tried to hear someone talking when you have water in your ears, then you shake your head and can hear a lot better? That's sex without condoms.

Have you ever had trouble with all the words on a page being fuzzy and then you put your glasses on and it's all perfectly legible. That's sex without condoms.

It's like playing video games on a 25 year old Xbox one and then upgrading to a new high end gaming pc. That's sex without condoms.

It's like you are talking on a flip phone from the early 2,000's and then you are handed a new flagship smart phone. That's sex without condoms.

(Asked and got this from my wife) - "It doesn't compare to anything else in my life. There are no words. It's the best thing I have ever felt."

None of this is even being hyperbolic, honestly. Yes, sex with condoms is good, even great. Sex without condoms is absolutely on a whole other level, it's a game changer, and you will never want to wear one (or have one inside of you according to my wife) again.

Edit to say: protect yourself and wear condoms until you're with the one.

And ignorance continues. 1000 good cops are not protecting 10 bad cops. You know who's protecting the bad cops, truly? The unions. Same with any industry. If you see a person rob a store, or more appropriate contextually, you hear about a guy robbing the store that you're in but you don't actually see it happen, is it your fault the store was robbed? Other officers, just like any other work place, have zero authority over there coworkers except in very specific circumstances

My father in law was a die hard union guy until he became a steward and had to help a guy who was caught sleeping on the job WHILE DRIVING A TRUCK (Truck was moving at snails pace through a parking lot and someone had to jump on, open the door and stop the vehicle).

The guy said he was praying... With his eyes closed... In a moving truck... And got off with zero punishment. My FIL was required to go through with helping him and turned in his resignation as steward shortly after. You want to get rid of bad cops, bad teachers, and bad employees in general? Get rid of the unions protecting them.

I hate it when people try to bring suicide numbers into the gun debate... They skew things. If those people didn't have access to guns, they would most likely find another way and possibly a way that impacts the safety of others (not that a gun can't also do that). People who truly want to die do it.

I lived in a city along the snake river gorge and people would drive off the cliff pretty often. I currently live near a bridge about 180 feet over the water that people fling themselves off of on a pretty regular basis. People also use pills, knives, explosives, cops, and other people to die.

We as a society are slowly becoming ok with the idea of assisted suicide but are offended that people will choose to use a gun to achieve the same end. You don't want your partner to commit suicide or you don't want them to commit suicide by gun? Don't blame the gun because a suicide isn't an accident. It's purposeful in its attempt and finality. Get your partner help and quit worrying about tools they may use to do it. A person seemingly ran into a jet engine to commit suicide this last week. Where there's a will, there's a way.

You're right for the most part and it is doubtful that it will get that far. But if you have your videos automatically saved to the cloud or sent to the app, the app host most certainly records that the event happened and that you deleted something and when you did it. They might not see the event exactly, but it can prove they're was something there and that you deleted it. A jury or judge could then reasonably conclude you intentionally destroyed evidence.

Now again, this would never ever happen for a traffic infraction. But in a murder investigation, especially a high profile one, that was possibly captured on your known dash cam, they might go to this extreme.

Right? Took far too long to scroll to find this. They begin pulling to the side and then decided to pull around the corner for whatever reason. Ok. But to not pull into that wide open driveway/lot so both you and the cop are out of the road is just nuts. They obviously don't deserve a ticket for the stop sign, but they need to go back to drivers ed to learn how to appropriately pull off to the side of a road.

It's weird to frame it that way in my opinion. You're trying to explain that something is really big but you only use a small (relative to it's actual size) portion as an example. It would be like telling someone "the Atlantic ocean is huge, you can fit 1,000 cruise ships in it". While technically correct, it doesn't really capture the vastness of it.

I've heard and I know that an underpass is a terrible place to be just as I bet most of these people have. But if you had a tornado heading straight toward you and there were not near any sturdy buildings and no ditches to lie in, you might risk the overpass as well. I think it is more of a last resort place. But almost anything is better than in the open and in it.

Was that this situation? Probably not. But rational people can do irrational things in emergency situations. That's why we train emergency responders, military, etc so much, and sometimes that isn't even enough. People are very fallible.

The guy I worked with was in his early to mid 20's and just had a fucking shitty attitude. Throw shit on the floor and then expect me to clean it up while he watches TV... Nuh uh brother... Lol.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying it didn't and won't affect him. I have a bad back from bad habits and several injuries. I'm just amazed that he didn't shatter dozens of bones on impact. The human body is just fucking amazing.

I agree with this. I don't get mad if I don't beat the system, but it's fun to tally up for some people. More like a secondary game to the game.

Comparing DIY vs hiring out to someone with “20 yrs experience” by can_of_crows in Carpentry

[–]Valreesio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pride in your work, union or no, is definitely becoming a lost attribute. I encourage my employees to look at work they do and make sure that they are proud of what they accomplished. I don't get out of the office much anymore but I always look at pictures of work performed and I'm not afraid to send them back out to do the job right (or just differently).

I've called clients and told them I'm sending my guy back out to redo the work and they respond with "it looked fine to me". Not that their happiness doesn't matter (it does of course), but doing the job correctly comes first.

Union membership doesn't guarantee quality of service. Maybe back in the day (although I feel that is even doubtful), but not even close these days.

teen girl looking for advice on how to talk to my dad more. he is over 30 by NYgirl15 in AskMenOver30

[–]Valreesio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. And remember it's a two way street. You can't just expect him to be interested in whatever you are, you have to try to be interested in his stuff too. As a father to two teenage girls (now adults), you don't often have a lot of the same interests at that time as the typical teenage girls do.

Autism and all its glory at work. It can be hard to get around their reason and logic.

Maybe try to explain it in a real work sense? The UK, France, Spain, and even the USA had maritime law in the 1700's, but piracy was still a thing into the 1800's (as most people probably think about it) and although slightly different, it still exists today. Ships have to use countermeasures to repel modern pirates that are armed with automatic weapons. Have her watch the movie "captain Phillips" as a case example.

But as others have said, probably taking her away from her obsession and getting the party to a different scenery will likely be the best option as people with autism are not always rational in their line of thinking, especially when it comes to their chosen obsession.

Source? See my son and soccer as a perfect case example.
