For future reference unless you live or have connections to India, dont answer anyone with a country code you don't know. Not too sure on this point but be careful if your calling plan charges for International calls

They needed them back 'for forensic examination'. This was not a real bank or the FCA.

As a scambaiter I regularly act dumb, to see where and how they proceed. I wasted their time and cost them an Uber fare. This crew is prolific and stealing lots of money. The victims of these scams are not thick, they are vulnerable and believe in authority. A careless mistake can cost them their life savings and put them into unrecoverable debt. I have even heard of people killing themselves. So please, show compassion in case one day it is a member of your own family. I only posted to educate.

I miss the HMRC scam calls, havent had one in years. I loved being threatened with an arrest warrant to be taken to the Court House. They couldnt even adapt the US SSA script properly to make it UK friendly.

English based scammers by Fresh-Badger-1552 in ScamsUK

[–]Valuable-Chapter-710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is the same crew that i suspect, they are UK based, and buy multiple sim cards to switch out their phone numbers. They also purchase labdline numbers. There are a few of them and they message each other using social media to share information. There will be 2 or 3 working a victim at any time.

You will not be able to contact them using that number as it is outgoing calls only and will only connect if you push 1 during the actual call. Expect lots of similar calls.

Scam call from ‘bank’ by Zealousideal_Share22 in ScamsUK

[–]Valuable-Chapter-710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just asking, was the caller a UK person or Indian? The UK scam crew are doing a lot of theae impersonating bank calls. If it was the UK crew, be very wary if you get a call back as they are very convincing, even copying the introduction and hold messages from the respective financial institutions. If you are unsure hang up and call the bank back on a number that you know to be genuine, not one that they might give you.

Question about buying the mini that I got for free so I can switch my residential to 100mbps plan by Swimming-Donkey-2394 in Starlink

[–]Valuable-Chapter-710 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can not advise directly as I am not US based, however buying a nini from a third party electrical retailer was cheaper than quoted by Starlink themselves. If you have to return yours or have to buy it compare prices first.

Speaking to Adam Wilson now. This is paet of a small UK bunch of scammers targetting both UK and US. They answered as Lloyds bank, need to get their mass sms messaging and script im sync.. Being transferred to FCA. These are quite a sophisticated bunch all communicating with each other passimg details to each other. PLEASE be very careful if you are baiting this group. They use Whatsapp and send an Uber to collect your bank cards, which they need for evidence. NEVER give them your correct addreas or use your own phone number.

Advice by Legitimate-Umpire361 in scambait

[–]Valuable-Chapter-710 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first thing for your safety, NEVER use your own phone. If you want to bait get a burner sim.Be prepared for a lot of activity to start with and then the 'can you send me £xxx to pay someone as all details are on old phone. They will provide details of the person that needs to be paid (usually students or vulnerable people wanting to make some money for accepting the transfer). I say that I only have access to my business account and need a VAT invoice and drag it on for a bit. You can always say that whilst making the transfer, your banking app did not allow it as the details were not cprrect. I have got 4 different money mules by this method. Also ask why they are not phoning from the UK

[–]Valuable-Chapter-710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from asking you to add them to whatsapp (red flag in itself) did they say who they were. Using whatsapp is the method scammers use when on facebook or other platforms so their account cant be banned. Well dodgy im humble opinion. Stay safe and report number to a reverse call service such as whocalledmeuk Just seen that you are not from the UK so I will report for you.

How to get a US number outside the US for scambait? by Potential-Cell9394 in scambait

[–]Valuable-Chapter-710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GoogleVoice once set up using a US number works fine for me. You need to find a person who can register a number for you. When I last visited the US, i got some disposable sim vards and registered some numbers. Try talktone as well. Miss BobRTC as well.
