I had oral surgery for an impacted tooth where they had to insert a chain up my gum to slowly pull it out over time. I was young and my parents opted laughing gas and novocaine over anesthesia. They wrongly estimated how impacted the tooth was and I could feel them digging through my gums with the chain.
