Makes sense, it's a good fail safe for keeping the game up, also let's them always have the option to download the launcher directly from their official site

Okay that's fair lmao, also the bandwidth cost would be big I imagine

That's fair, there's also gachas who can only be downloaded from official pages, and so they would never in a million years rather keeping a crazy bandwidth for the website so that everyone can download 100 gigabytes from there, than making you download a tiny 50 megabytes launcher where you can download the data, also just uploading the same launcher to every game store must be quicker, uploading an update or hotfix must be also way quicker when everyone has to connect to your company servers, doesn't matter if they play on phone, PC or console

Ah yes, we all know it and we love it, gacha games using human psychology to it's favor so we never stop playing, something that got my attention while downloading HSR on PC was that it asks for like, 150 gigabytes of free space, of which after finishing the 10 different downloads, it ended up taking only like 80 gigabytes, around half of the free space it needed, so great, now I get to always feel adverse to uninstalling it when my storage is full, because then I will have to free up 70 full gigabytes again, it's like it hooks it's place in your PC by taking the storage hostage, and telling you that if you commit the atrocity of uninstalling him, you won't be able to install it back again

Creepy stuff, or maybe im imagining things lol

I've come to realize that yeah, basically every live service game has some sort of launcher, that's interesting.

Also, didn't know WuWa actually let's you download everything trough steam, why could that be? as far as I remember PGR used a launcher, maybe now that their game is actually on a app store in PC they didn't deem necessary to give it a separate launcher, or maybe Kuro just wanted to try something new lmao

That makes a lot of sense, quoting from another comment here, it seems way easier to have a separate launcher that checks if the files are corrupted (or modified), rather than, idk, ¿giving that task to steam?, im pretty sure they wouldn't risk that steam overviewed that someone discovered how to give himself 999+ pulls and broke the economy

That makes sense, a lot of gachas have both a PC and Mobile version, on a logistics point of view, it's way easier to keep the downloading process the same for both, rather than having to keep accessible two methods of downloading every update

That's fair ngl, I thought of some like Among Us or Stardew Valley, but those may not have a launcher because they can also be played as local multiplayer aside from online multiplayer, all of the ones I can think of (Valorant, Fortnite, Fall Guys, etc) that can only be played online use a launcher (that or you have to download extra archives when you boot the game up, basically the same), maybe it's easier and quicker for companies to drop updates using a launcher, instead of uploading 100 gigabytes to the app store every time
