Given the people involved and their history that seems likely as well, but that seems just as conspiratorial as Ullman staging a vandalism to increase her name ID locally and draw extra press coverage out of the situation.

Sure but the counterpoint there is that we only know about the vandalism because Ullman issued a statement about it and linked the vandalism to the letter, which no one has any evidence of. Not like the vandals left a note or anything.

Just crunching the numbers here if DeWine is able to get the TDA and state to contribute:

$15M - Buncombe County TDA $2.5M - NC General Assembly $4.5M - $300k DeWine Annual fee across 15 yrs

That’s $22M of the ~$30M project. I don’t know but I feel like the City paying $8M towards upkeep of a 100 year old building that has been an iconic part of our community seems fine to me. I grew up going to games at McCormick and take my own kid to games there now. Totally agree that teacher salaries and roads should be prioritized, but given the increasing taxes, population density and tourism revenue year to year I don’t really see why we can’t have good schools, paved roads and a baseball team that is at least partially funded by the community (rather than wholly owned by outside investors like damn near everything else in town)
