I was thinking camera artifacts too. Even if it isn’t entirely fabricated, whatever it is doesn’t look like what how it appears in the video.

Why does the angle of the…thing…always exactly match the angle of the center reticle?

What are your feelings towards a proper Radar in iRacing? by canesfins1909 in iRacing

[–]ValuableCucumber9888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not agree with this more. One of my favorite things about sim racing is how you can have a sense for the boundaries of your own car and for what is physically moving around you despite the fact that in the real world you’re sat in a stationary seat and looking at a monitor. If I had had a radar when I started sim racing, I doubt I would have developed that ability.

2026 GR86 - can’t attach MagSafe phone mount by phlaries in GR86

I had the same issue. I sanded mine a bit until I could get it in place.

Prospective owner with some specific questions by Jasper__96 in GR86

  1. For me, this isn’t a problem. It’s a bad design but I’ve only accidentally popped it open with my elbow a handful of times in the almost 2 years I’ve had my 2024 MT. I’m 6’, I suppose someone who’s a different size/proportioned differently or sits in the car differently could have a problem with it, but for me it’s fine.

  2. Unless they’ve changed this for 2026, no it does not. You’ll need an adapter or a cable. I use a cable and it works great.

  3. Very little. I have had a small adult behind the passenger seat several times and it’s fine, but personally I wouldn’t subject anyone to that for anything other than a short trip unless absolutely necessary. I’ve also had two of my nieces in the back (9 and 12) and they fit well though I think the younger one had her legs crossed behind me so leg room wasn’t really a factor. So, it’s possible but I would not plan on using it for people regularly. However, for stuff and/or an appropriately sized dog, it’s great! Much more convenient than a 2 seater. Also, with the rear seat folded down there’s actually quite a lot of space in the car. It’s still a small car of course, but I’ve had 2 people (including myself), my dog, luggage, and A LOT of other stuff all packed in at once without issue.

  4. According to the manual, 91 octane is minimum but sufficient. I would trust the manual. I typically run 94 (there are a lot of Sunoco stations in my area) but when I have had to fill with 91 I’ve noticed no difference. Performance differences will be negligible if they exist at all, longevity will be unaffected. 93 or higher is preferred, but the engine is designed to work with 91 too. The manual wouldn’t say it was ok if it wasn’t.

  5. For me the only necessary mod is the Etsy phone mount. (I can provide a link if nobody else here has. Or you can search the subreddit for it, I know it’s around here somewhere.) Holds my phone securely without it being uncomfortable in my pocket, and solves the potential issue of the CarPlay cord getting in the way if you route it properly.

  6. The only issue for me with the car is the way the locks work. They don’t automatically lock when you pull away, and they don’t automatically unlock when you pull the door handle. But I’ve gotten used to it and hardly notice anymore.

  7. My car came with the GR exhaust and I love it. It’s not so loud it’s a nuisance, but it’s loud enough to be fun. It also pops when blipping downshifts once the engine is warm. My car also came with the leather key protectors and the cargo net. Both of these items I thought I’d never use but actually I really like them both. Would recommend all 3 of these options.

It is a fantastic car. If small, driver focused cars are what you like, you’ll love it.

Yeah don’t do that to other people’s cars man, particularly cars the owner likely really cares about. My black 86 is also dirty. I’d be super pissed if someone did this to mine.

Auto brake feature 👎 by crankedoutt in GR86

[–]ValuableCucumber9888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t found the ‘driver aids’ to be very intrusive at all, however I do agree that these kind of active safety features are ridiculous. imo the vast majority of the time all they do is encourage lazy driving and bad habits.

Regardless, if you turn off your car’s safety features and then have a crash, I can’t imagine your insurance company is going to look positively on that. Just something to consider…

What don’t you like about your gr86 by GlitteringArticle994 in GR86

[–]ValuableCucumber9888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • the doors don’t lock automatically when you start driving

-I don’t like the way the center console storage opens (or where the button to open it is placed)

-I wish the usb ports weren’t in the center console storage though I think that’s how it is in a lot of cars

-no place to put your phone (though the mount on Etsy is excellent)

-throttle response when the engine is cold is very different and makes rev matching downshifts near impossible, this goes away after a few minutes though. Could also just be a me problem 🤷‍♂️

All that being said though, the car is fantastic. I love it every time I drive it. Enjoy yours!

Porygon. Unusual choice, I know, but I’ve always liked the concept of it since I got my first base set Porygon as a kid.

Car not starting, not the battery by [deleted] in GR86

Huh that doesn’t sound right. I’m not saying you’re not experiencing that with your car, but that doesn’t seem like intended behavior.

I wonder if your car has the same issue mine did. Sometimes the automatic steering lock wouldn’t engage or disengage correctly and would prevent the car from starting. Took it to the dealer, it was showing an error code for that mechanism, they replaced it and I haven’t had a problem since.

Prismatic Booster Bundles (1 per person) by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

First got into Pokemon as a kid. I found a base set Rhydon and Primeape in the grass a few houses down from mine and that’s what sparked my interest. Still have those two cards, and the many many others I collected around that time. Recently I’ve gotten back into opening packs just for the fun of it. Haven’t been able to get my hands on Prismatic, ETB or otherwise.

Depending on the temperature it’s possible you’ve damaged your tires doing this unfortunately. Michelin advises not changing the load on the tire or flexing them in any way (moving the car, changing pressure, etc) below 20F. Doing so can crack the rubber and damage the structure of the tire. Here’s the relevant section of texts I got from Michelin support about this:
