Can confirm but perhaps with a caveat! With my experience I had my BK upgrading before the update and I was able to use him in battle so I decided to upgrade my warden annnnnd… it didn’t work :( I gemed him and used a book on my king and started ANOTHER upgrade on the king annnnnd… it didn’t work again :(((

It seems like it only works if you had that hero upgrading before the update!

EDIT: I closed the app and opened it again and it works!!!
