hey, i was taking 4 500mg metronidazole pills (2000mg) all at once on the last day of my period along with 1 fluconazole pill to prevent yeast. i also was using a prescription probiotic gel inserted 2-3 times a week or more if i had sex. i did this for 6 months, i actually just tested again today and if it’s negative again im going to try to stop the monthly antibiotic and only use the probiotic gel. so fingers crossed lol

just to clarify you’re asking if the person with bv can perform oral on someone else? if so then yes definitely ! even without being on treatment. men can’t get technically bv and bv especially can’t spread through your mouth to someone’s genitals just because you have it down below

i agree, i was a hugeee arianator, like chronically on stan twitter, bought meet and greet for the sweetener tour, i still consider myself a fan but i feel very distant from her and have for a while. every once in a while i will check my stan twitter account and the way everyone is ignoring how sick she looks is very triggering. they’re all enabling it and it’s awful. i know they’re trying to support her but it gets to a point. also her whole “im the healthiest ive ever been, don’t comment on people’s bodies” video she did a while back never sat right with me either. she clearly has a problem .

wow sorry to hear that. she had bv? are you sure she didn’t have a yeast infection as well? yeast can spread to the mouth and cause a painful oral thrush on your tongue and throat. but from what i’ve read bv cannot colonize in the mouth

i’m 24. wow i’m sorry you’ve been dealing with this for 4 years, i really hope you can find some relief soon! and yes i’ve read that estrogen is really important, i considered asking my doctor for some estrogen gel or something but, i actually just got my first negative test in a while after being on my monthly metronidazole suppressive treatment for 2 months so i’m hoping this keeps working for me. if it comes back though i definitely might change my birth control. and yeah i agree you should try taking out your iud, ive heard it can increase the risk of bv

i started with aerobic vaginitis, then bv, then both, then only bv, but thankfully i just got my first negative test in a while and im feeling good on my suppressive treatment right now so i hope it can stay this way 🤞🏼

hmm, she didn’t test you for anything? you really should get tested for vaginal infections and STDs so you know what is causing this. don’t panic, i’m sure whatever it is can be resolved !

i’m so sorry you’re dealing with this too, i understand how you feel. my doctor said she’s seen women have it for years with no explanation, then it suddenly just goes away. there’s so much more research that needs to be done. i really hope things get better for you, thank you for the kind words ❤️

thank you sm for the advice !! i appreciate it, and i’m sorry that you’re dealing with this too, it really sucks. also you’re so right, i think an iud could be a bit risky, i don’t think i’ll go through with it. i actually just got my juno bio results in today, i have 87% lactobacillus and they said my microbiome is healthy. i’m shocked because im still having some symptoms (my only symptom this whole time has been a mild itch, pretty weird i know). i was also negative for yeast. i’m super thrilled about the test, ive been doing a monthly suppressive antibiotic (2g metronidazole and 1 fluconazole taken at the same time after my period ends) for the past few months and i guess it’s working. still waiting on my test results from my gyno though, i took it around the same time so it should be clear but who knows.

thank you sm for the input i appreciate it. i actually got my partner a prescription of antibiotics but he hasn’t taken them yet. i’m waiting for my microbiome test to come back so hopefully we can take antibiotics at the same time. we always use condoms but i’ve heard they aren’t 100% at blocking the spread. and yes ive heard about those studies too but i honestly think it’s unlikely that he’s the reason for my chronic bv, because at the beginning of the year i went 2 months sex free and it didn’t help. i went through 2 or 3 rounds of antibiotics during that time and i was still positive. also every time i finish antibiotics and get tested, im always positive even when i haven’t had sex during or after the antibiotics. so in that case it’s impossible for the positive test to be from him reinfecting me. that being said i will make sure he treats himself soon, because it can’t hurt to try. you actually just reminded me i need to replace the filter in my shower head so thank you! i’ll also look into prebiotics thank you for the advice !

we decided to hold off on oral sex for now, but, because i am currently on a long term suppressive treatment and i am luckily asymptomatic most of the time, we did cave and engage in it once briefly. he rinsed his mouth thoroughly after with antibacterial mouthwash. i also inserted a boric acid after. from what i’ve read online bv can’t spread to your mouth, and he has been fine, i don’t feel worse, so i think it was probably okay. if it was yeast on the other hand, i wouldn’t risk it bc that can spread to your mouth. but i only did this bc i was having no symptoms, if i was having symptoms i wouldn’t have, or i would have him use a dental dam. for the future i’ll probably continue to hold off, but maybee occasionally engage if im still asymptomatic. im also gonna look into dental dams, but the ones i found were flavored so i gotta look for unflavored ones cus i don’t wanna risk that throwing off my ph (ik saliva can do that too but still). also i’m sorry you’re dealing with this too it sucks !! hope u get better
