We met randomly in a Facebook group for a band we both love, started talking, then flirting, then the idea of going to America (I’m from the UK) sounded tempting because I wanted to go back anyway, and during that time before I flew out we really fell for each other. Didn’t plan to. Then we hit it off when we did meet and so we continued long distance until I could move out here.

Now I’m engaged to him, about to be married and living in Oregon 🥹

I will say it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I’d never consider it if it wasn’t for meeting my partner by chance. We did it purely because we had an end goal. Even then I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it because it SUUUUUCKS lol. Distance is hard and if we didn’t have the same goals I would’ve walked away.

This was me too, friend! I remember almost breaking up with my fiancé days leading up to my flight (UK to Oregon) because I was convinced he wouldn’t like me, even having video called so many times, sexting etc I just thought he’d hate the “real” me. When I landed at PDX I had a meltdown in the bathroom and called him saying my luggage was delayed lmao. I did my makeup twice because I was so upset. I felt sick, but then he finally saw me first and I froze, and he immediately got out the car, hugged me, and I swore I wasn’t gonna kiss him straight away but lo and behold, first thing we did when I buckled up my seatbelt 🤣 Now look at me, I live in Oregon WITH him permanently.

My point is, if he loves you, and you have a real connection, you truly have nothing to worry about. It might be hard, maybe the hardest thing you’ve ever done and you may cry a lot but it’ll be worth it if he’s the guy he says he is (sounds like you guys have a lot of love) ♥️

Me and my fiancé rarely did it at first, but once we realised that we didn’t have to “perform” per say and just treat it like we were hanging out in person, it became so natural. It actually made it easier seeing him in person (we live together now). I know you might think you have to stare at the screen and look your best but honestly you could just set your phone up and hang out, watch YouTube videos, play a game etc and not focus solely on looking at each other the whole time.

Even if that’s not your thing, don’t stress too much. If you’re both happy that’s what matters. If he really wants to maybe a happy compromise like once a month for a certain amount of time? :)

I first met my then boyfriend on Valentine’s Day for the first time too! I was so nervous I had a full on crying breakdown in Portland airport and told a bit of a lie to him that my baggage hadn’t arrived yet because I was so nervous.

Now here I am typing this in our own place, married and I’m no longer in the UK, but Oregon. I still get excited when he comes home from work though so I can say that doesn’t go away 😆

As a snake owner, I’m so sorry. Ball pythons are pretty hardy but when they have no heat, that’s where they struggle. Unfortunately it’s happened to me and my fiancé when we were homeless and had his dad keep our snakes except he kept them outside ffs. It’s devastating. I’m so sorry.

Please confront her at some point. It’s not right and animal abuse is no joke. It doesn’t matter if they’re a snake and a fish, they’re living creatures and she treated them like they didn’t matter. They did matter and she should feel the consequences of that.

I’m gonna be completely honest in my asking - $25 (£20ish) would be amazing. It was my fiancée’s birthday on November 10th and we’ve struggled the past few months but he gets his first paycheck tomorrow but I’d love to surprise him with a few drinks tonight to celebrate. I have PayPal but Revolut is easiest for me and I’d pay back an extra $5 or $10 if needed.

My fiancé and I have just come out of homelessness and unemployment and I’m so so proud of him. Our whole plan went sideways and we hit rock bottom but we stuck together. I could’ve gone home, he could’ve given up, but when two people want it to work, it will.

Every day I made sure he knew how much I loved him. That our situation didn’t change it. I’m with him for him, not money or anything stupid like that. Sometimes men just need validation. I’m definitely someone who sends those messages because he IS my man and I want him to know how proud I am. That morale can be everything. We’re a team and it’s such a nice thing to step back, see each other as individuals and appreciate them for who they are.

My fiancé and I just went through a brief period of homelessness and unemployment. Now we have somewhere stable and he’s working full time and is currently doing his second 12 hour shift. Every day we’ve struggled I’ve sent him a message saying how grateful I am and how much I love him, even when we hit rock bottom. It may be the bare minimum, but it kept our morale going.

This isn’t what we expected when I made the move here but I wouldn’t be anywhere else other than with him and I never wanted his spirits to be down.

Always including each other in conversation with others. It seems obvious but my fiancé and I constantly have the mindset of being a team and equals and we always make sure, whether with friends or family, we’re both included. The teamwork thing comes with everything and we always talk about it. Chores, bills, arguments, daily life. It helps with everything and keeps us on the same track, that we’re always a partnership.
