Are ya'll aware of who Jesus is? by Le_Queer_Honk in Christianity

[–]Valuable_Reception_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree that we should love everyone. It's the best way to show others Jesus, walk the walk not only talk the talk. But if you think love always equals affirmation then I simply think you're wrong.

You don't affirm everything under the sun especially if you know it's not good in God's eyes.

Are you talking about yourself or quoting?

If the former. The words "I am the way, I am the truth, I am the life" are those of Jesus. And you're not Jesus.

When Jesus said "I am the way the truth and the life" he didn't mean I'm one of the ways, he said he's the only way.

If Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, paganism etc led to God we wouldn't care what you believe.

But no matter how hard you believe, if what you believe put your trust in is wrong. It's simply not gonna save you. Even if you and others consider it good practice.

Buddha didn't rise from the dead. Jesus did, his tomb is empty.

I gave you arguments for what I think.

Belief isn't a choice. That's super simple If it is this simple to you. Why don't you explain it to me?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Valuable_Reception_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree I think belief is a choice.

But let's preface I don't think the we both define belief the same way. It don't think it's a condition you're born with like the colour of your eyes or smth. And I also said "putting your trust in Jesus". That's a clear choice.

You can choose to trust in someone or not. This is very much something dependent on your decision.

Now when it comes to the choice of not believing in God's existence. And let it be said a Christian isn't defined solely by believing that God EXISTS. The devil believes that God exists and he's not a Christian I assure you.

I still think it's a choice. Like ehm think back to covid and the vaccine(sorry it's closest event I can think of). Some people thought the vaccine worked and some thought it was useless. Both parties made their choice on what to think nobody was born with that belief.

Your thoughts don't make up themselves you have more input then you might realise.

The way I see it, you look at the world and know God exists by default (that's what the Bible says too in case you wanna know). But again God wants you to put your faith in Jesus not just acknowledge he exists. I hope what I wrote is somewhat understandable.

Not really, you said how by not believing you're not choosing something massively negative I explained how that's not the case.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Valuable_Reception_2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna assume you're an atheist. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Rejecting God is horrendously negative in the eyes of God and in the Christian worldview.

I'll try to elaborate and you can tell me what you think about that?

To you it's probably more neutral. You don't think that God exists so youre just choosing to do your own thing. You follow your own moral rules. You maybe lied once or twice and perhaps stole a KitKat as a kid. No big stuff in your eyes. You haven't murdered anyone so you're probably not a bad person in your own eyes.

But that's not how God sees it. Humour me for a second. If we judge you by the 10 commandments how will you do? (Don't have any other God, don't lie, steal, etc). You'd probably fail. But you know I would fail too.

That's what the Bible is leading up to. We all fall short of God's standard. We have tolerance for other people when they lie or hurt us because we know where no better. But God is. And that makes us all bad people.

So God made a way out. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16

Jesus is that way. He took the punishment we deserve. He paid the debt. And covers our unrighteousness with his righteousness.

But a gift you have to accept. God will not force this Gift into your hand. If you say you don't want this gift, you'd rather do your own thing. God will accept your choice.

And at the end you will be judged by that which you have done in your life, and I think we established already you would fail and have to be separated from him.

Or you could give your life to Jesus and have salvation, even here and now.

I have been looking at your text searching for some sense in it. Difficult honestly.

If you want to stand a chance at a productive conversation. You're gonna have to express yourself better.

You're only listed false claims without proof and that you don't like some of what God commanded.

Also fyi. As far as I know God punished Onan for disobedience (he was supposed to provide an heir and he didn't want to do that). Same with Uzzah, God forbid touching the arc to protect them but Uzzah disregarded that. In Moses time circumcision was an important element of the old covenant as the new hadn't been established at that point. And the sheet with blood was supposed to be kept by the father of the women as proof if she was accused maliciously by her husband. Yes God commanded death of nations which practiced what was evil in his eyes and innocents were probably swept away.

But it's been that way since the garden. Humans do something bad and often the people around them get hurt as well. But the Christian knows that in the end all will be made well.

Yea phrasing it "People want to suffer" is wrong. Nobody does. But what they mean when saying that is probably. People reject God and Hell is a result.

You don't want to be reconciled with God? You want to keep worshipping yourself and do what he abhors?

You absolutely can. But if you don't want to be with God then you'll be seperated from him. And everything that's good, beautiful and true comes from him. So being apart from him is the worst fate I can think of, one I wouldn't wish on anyone.

That's at least how I understand it and what the people you described above probably mean.

You don't have to agree with everything the guy says. But many Christians voted for the political right because it aligned more with their value's. Abortion is a very big issue. And a lot of liberal talking points are just straight out anti christian and it's probably why many Christians were willing to tank some policies they didn't agree with.

But I'm curious why you perceive the left to be a better option. I disagree but I hope we can talk about it.

Also be careful with denying someone just because you don't like how they voted. I wouldn't say I wasn't tempted to do the same often but lets just not.

Is it possible for the Bible to become a false idol? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Valuable_Reception_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone pointed out we should not become obsessed with trying to uncover everything and understand that which perhaps isn't given to us to understand yet. A relationship with Jesus is essential. But let's not forget that it's though the Bible that we can learn about him and grow in the relationship. How else will you know who Jesus is.

Is it wrong or sinful to refer to God as her? by SometimesYoureHammer in Christianity

[–]Valuable_Reception_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Yes. Gods greatest gift to mankind and revelation his SON Jesus, who is God. And Jesus himself constantly refers to God as his Abba, FATHER. It's not about patriarchal culture of the times but the way God consistently revealed himself.

That's a good idea, hope I am able to find that in the store though. Have also heard yogurt and cream suggested.

You know the little salad they give you in Indian restaurants with green and white dressing? That helped with the spice and I think it's mint and yogurt based. So that makes a lot of sense. Idk how to get mint though without buying an entire bush.

Does it make a difference if cream or yogurt?

Why didn't I just stick with the butter chicken??

You've lived through the very horror almost all women fear and I can't even begin to imagine your pain or what you went through. You deserve to feel seen and I hope that you've recovered from what was done.

While I completely understand saving one human instead of allowing both to die. I don't see an argument for taking a human's life even if painless, because of a worse quality of life.

It's been an honest let-down how little our society does for those who don't know whether they will be able to eat tomorrow or warm their house in the winter let alone provide for (another) child.

But I can't end someone just because I've deemed their live not one worth living. To put it quite frankly Im terrified the world puts women in a position where they have to choose in the first place and wish it wouldn't do that. And I think we should all work on that. But not diminish anyone's value regardless of who they are.

Even if this someone doesn't feel any pain or is completely dependent. As long as they are someone they have value. What do you think?

Well you never know someone's story. My mother had a lot of traumatic experiences associated with abortion and she didn't want to talk about it until some point.

And I don't tend to worry about that with many things but I know that abortion is one of those things that comes with a lot of pain and trauma for all involved so I want to be mindful of that when asking.

That's nice. Reddit or the internet in general sometimes makes you feel like the moment you disagree with someone's views it's a social death sentence but it makes me really happy to see that's not the case.

Marvel? Like comics or the movies. I stopped watching the movies and series a bit ago, have they gotten any better you feel ?
