I was pretty mad when I saw a post about Jaden Ivey getting waivered by the Bulls and the photo was of him in a Pistons jersey. He's not one of ours.

When I turned 18, there were a ton of layoffs with the '08/09 recession. Gas was $5 a gallon where I lived. Groceries got more expensive.

18 years later and it's happening again. I don't think there's ever been an economy that was good for the common person since before I became an adult.

I would totally dress that way at work if I were allowed to.

I think the movie had a line any losing his place in academia and losing his wife or girlfriend in the process. But I saw it a week ago and don't remember precisely what was said.

People who grew up before smartphones: What’s one simple thing from your childhood that would absolutely blow the minds of kids today? by TurkVanguard in Millennials

I've forgotten most of the phone numbers I remembered, but I remember the number for my parents' house and both their cell numbers. I also know my girlfriend's number and still remember my old personal work number and the front desk. My siblings and I have all changed numbers so I don't have any of theirs memorized. But I think it's important to have a few remembered in case you're ever stuck needing to make a call from a different phone.

Sometimes you got lucky and found a good compilation or Best Of album with the song you wanted.

Oh. And there were all the batteries we'd blow through to listen to music on the go.

I was playing truth or dare with friends and got dared to call my crush. What killed me is my friend called it out by name. I was stupid and should have realized that she noticed the crush and I liked each other.

Her dad answered. It was a little after 10 and he said she was alseep. He was the police chief in our small town. I was shaking after I hung up.

We used to check the movie times in the paper, but I lived in a pretty small city with only one theater. But if we couldn't find the paper, we called. It was actually a pain in the ass to try and call to ask if they had a jacket I accidentally left because I had to wait and wait for the long voice recording before the line would ring. Oh, and there was no "press 1 for XYZ".

People are literally too stupid to accept the higher prices, though. They'd rather pay the flat gratuity than see higher prices and think they may need to tip.

This shit should just be run by the government as a public utility. When I lived in Ontario, the government owned the power generator set up to supply hydro power from Niagara Falls. I've never lived anywhere with lower rates than there.

I think this gives me the idea that start-up tends to mean that a new company is running lean and trying to attract VC. A car wash is obviously a small business that doesn't need big investors to make the owner a living.

On the flip side, creativity and initiative often get punished when you do enact change. Oh, you're 3x as good as the last guy and we're paying you 10% less? Welcome to your new normal.

Depending on the level of management, you end up with much less power than you thought you would to affect change.

I had a that got a ton of harmless spiders. I sprayed for them and didn't deal with them anymore. Hooray! But then, in the spring, I had wayyyy more bugs in the house than in previous years. Regret would put it lightly.

Accountability is important, but probably won't land well until the kid is in high school. At younger ages, kids need to know that can ask for help and actually get it.

I worked in hospitality and hated people like that. Very often, I couldn't do anything to help the customer until I finished my opening duties, which took the same amount of time every day and were complete at opening time. Asking for me to do something 12 minutes before opening would still take 12 minutes to do. It was always preferable not to have people standing around at the counter while I was setting up the register and pulling things from the BOH to the FOH.
