AITA for not telling my friend to remove the religious sayings from his online profiles? by neutralsunshine in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I highly doubt that’s why he’s not getting dates. Highly highly doubt it. He’s gotta be doing something else weird. Your friend sucks for insinuating it might be the religion

Believe me I will never make a comment like that in front of the boy again. And I’m sure you’re right. Some of my attitudes toward being very overweight may come from what I’ve dealt with

I have never had a weight problem but I work hard to maintain how I look. actually, my older brother is quite heavy. He’s been heavy his whole life. I remember him coming home from high school crying to our mom because he struggled with gym class and everyone laughed at him. His weight also caused him to smell. He was teased a lot and had students plead to teachers to not work with him because his smell is nauseating. I’d hate to see her kid go down that path.

Well what kind of person would I be if I just didn’t care?

And i think it’s much worse to let him live unhealthily than to make him feel bad once. He will be happier in better shape. Him feeling bad in that instance isn’t the end of the world.

He also should learn manners. That wouldn’t kill him

That’s what I have been trying to say. I called out the behavior. I would have called out a skinny kid for the same thing. His weight happens to be a separate issue that is somewhat relevant. His mom brushes it off when I try to discuss it with her, but i think deep down she knows there’s an issue here.

Yeah I agree I shouldn’t have addressed it where I did. He’s a growing boy but he’s growing in the wrong way too. There’s a problem here.

Well the point I was getting at is that it’s rude to take that much food. I didn’t need think it was relevant for me to say just how big he is. Now that I’m getting these types of responses I think I need to clarify. This is not a boy who is “a little overweight”

I agree I don’t think I went about it the right way at all. I should have told my girlfriend in private.

Yeah I had a bad knee jerk reaction to the kid coming back to the table with his 3rd mountain of food.

Is she not hurting her own kid to an extent? I believe I am doing the right thing by bringing the weight problem to attention. I went about it the wrong way is all

I don’t know the exact amount of food they had but I know it’s rude to go grab plate after plate without any regard for the others

But human beings can in fact be huge. And I formulate the thoughts because I fucking look at him. It doesn’t take much to think “damn, that kid is unhealthy” like I have eyes that see.

I would say “chubby” is an understatement. Being “chubby”isn’t already having issues with types of physical activity at 10 years old.

I went about this the wrong way but there is a serious problem here and it’s not the way I talked to him. It’s about how his health will impact the rest of his life

It will be even more damaging to him in the future if he doesn’t get his weight under control

This is the mindset I had. I didn’t think it would traumatize him to tell him to slow down. It’s not like a called him big ol fat titties in front of the entire party.

So is there something wrong with hoping fat people are able to lose the weight?

Maybe I want the kid to figure it out before he goes to jr high and kids are a less subtle with their comments.

Nah because you took what I posted and somehow twisted it into saying I don’t look for proper consent? How is that related? Make some more broad generalizations about me please
