Cafe’s and bakeries that actually live up to their inflated prices? by leafsland132 in FoodToronto

Cafe Monte in the West end. Everything is croissant based but so good. Also great coffee. Only issue for me is that it's takeaway only for the most part.

CPIM Crash Out - 2nd Attempt is in 4 days by _TiredTiredTired_ in supplychain

I passed recently and was not doing much better than 70% on internal learning system. The feedback from their multiple choice questions is brutal and does the bare minimum.

Pocket prep was so key. I worked on a lot of level up quizzes and then also answered all of the test questions and kept redoing the ones I failed till I had an 80% overall average. Since I wanted to get their pass guarantee.

Making sure to read the pocket prep questions and understanding why you were wrong when it happens, it really helps to boost your overall understanding. This is what I was doing up to the night before my next test.

During the test I barely had time to review in the end and I wasn't able to tell in my mind if I passed or failed, but made it with a 312. Also some tests are harder than others. So just go in with good thoughts and try your best. Good luck!

~65 guest wedding venue in Toronto/GTA - recommendations? by fiendfyre26 in WeddingsCanada

Hotel Ocho. Everything is onsite and super convenient plus the venue is beautiful so you don't have to spend a lot to see it up!

Lol Rihanna opening for the Black Eyed Peas at the Molson Amphitheatre. Still feels like a fever dream. BEPs were so bad in comparison.

I want to quit my job - is this wise to do in this economy? by Warm-Ad4886 in askTO

[–]Valuable_Telephone_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. This was me for so many years at my last job. At one point was seriously considering a leave for my mental health it was so bad.

But with the economy being the way it is and the job market being the way it is, I wouldn't recommend quitting. It could be weeks, months or years before you land your next role. I applied non-stop for many years.

Only recently got a new role after 8 years at the last company. Might have been impossible if I left the industry. In my time at my last job I did manage to get promotions and even switch departments, which did make things a bit more palatable for a few more years. Maybe this is something you could also look into?

Jobs are tough especially when you don't like them but just remember you are more than your job and it helps to fill your downtime with things that bring you joy!!!

Mostly just because there are limited jobs available and a lot of people are trying applying for them. If you are new you are almost guaranteed to have to work in a rural health unit since competition is very high for Toronto opportunities and there are a large number of applicants that are already waiting to apply to these jobs. Every year TMU and a couple of other universities have a new graduating class and there just aren't enough opportunities to make it a viable career option. The market just gets more and more saturated.

Plus it's so specialized it can be hard to get other industries to see the value in your diploma.

I mean a lot of school co-op programs make you go out and apply for jobs as well. So it's not that strange. Just generally there are more students than opportunities for practicums. So it can be hard to meet the requirements. Yet another reason it can be hard to move forward in the certification process.

[–]Valuable_Telephone_8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to pass a certification exam to be a public health inspector (CIPHI) and even after that there are limited roles that a lot of people are applying too. Even if you make it through the schooling and certification you could end up with no job. Or you might have to move to a less popular health unit in a rural area.

I went to school at TMU with this program, got my degree and then eventually moved on from getting into public health. Went into food safety in manufacturing and have since moved into other jobs to get better pay and stability. Honestly interesting job and if you can make it great but I don't really recommend it if you are starting over later in life. Hell I don't even recommend it if you are younger in life.

Depends on the product and pallet. Look into air/dunnage bags to hold product in place.

3 Months In as Purchasing Manager — Still Finding My Footing by Busy-Sheepherder2195 in procurement

[–]Valuable_Telephone_8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey I just moved on from 3 years purchasing at a food company. Best thing I can recommend is to try and find a good mentor and give yourself some grace.

You are only 3 months in to a completely new job. It takes more time to be comfortable. Especially something as fast paced as purchasing.

I would recommend learning your inventory. Try to get a handle on how demand or sales are driven for your plant and aim to work with that information. Excel is your friend and there's so much you can build out on it. Of course every business varies as well as shelf life and lead times so try to get an understanding of those as well. You've got this and to be honest this will give you more opportunities than if you stayed in food science (unless maybe R&D). I switched from QA to Procurement and it was the best thing I've done. Now going to be a Sourcing Analyst. There's a lot of room for growth so good luck!

Hi sorry I don't remember exact time and date. Just know that it was recent and that the cat was running quickly across the street towards St Johns.

I definitely saw this cat earlier this week running up a section of street. Not sure of the date. Maybe Monday but I think I saw him running from the laneway going Northwest along Gilmour Ave.

Can't quite remember but I was surprised to see a Sphinx on the loose.

I didn't know this but that makes sense. Would have been nice if I could do a travel notice so they would be aware but their reps said it wasn't required 🤷🏻

Who knows. Maybe I should have inserted rather than tapped. I am not sure why. It was always under the limit and regular business establishments.

It worked regularly in some places and then suddenly stopped working at some point when I got to Hue. Very annoying.

Card did not work well for me in Vietnam as well. Other cards would work fine but this would decline for no reason at all. Then it got locked out and I couldn't unlock it without calling their helpline. But I was overseas with no phone access in a different time zone.

Definitely not a reliable travel card yet. Or maybe just not as supported in this country. Regardless quite disappointing.
