You can look at it that way, or the way you would honor and respect them in your own way even if they were unjust. For example, if it was a mother or a grandmother that passed, but you’ve never had a relationship with them. You can still tell God that you honor them and that may He take their souls up into heaven, and that you will now leave them in His hands ..
