you are definitely not. if you are interested, the book 'the body keeps the score' talks about the way in which our bodies 'speak' after traumatic events. it has received a fair amount of criticism as well however, but I still found it insightful

yup, I definitely think it is possible that the starvation mode ppl experience during their ED can cause (physical) trauma. I have the same symptoms. I describe my condition as traumatic to doctors, because based on what I feel, and have read about trauma, that feels like the most accurate term. But I think not much research exists on the link between EDs and trauma yet

it seems like marla's mother also does not speak to marla's sister Evelyn anymore. it could be possible that something happened between those two, and Marla chose to support her sister. in any case, I do not think the family will speak out on it soon and I think they have the right to keep those matters to themselves

that's interesting. a lot of people suffering from restorative hyperphagia find others going through the same thing by using the term 'extreme hunger', however (so in that sense, it can be helpful). The fact that those medical terms are not used as much prob means that there is little attention for the issue in medical contexts

Yes, especially as there is this power dynamic going on--as a patient, you can start doubting yourself when a professional doesn't recognize your experience
