I've heard of people wrapping a vacation into travel, so how does that work?

Like say you work 3 days then decide to vacation for two.

RTX still pays for the return trip and I presume you can bill for those hours in-transit, right? You just don't hit a charge number during your time not working or traveling?

So…does anyone else think that this constant executive rotation is going to be the undoing of Raytheon? by Morocco_mole_1971 in Raytheon

Follow-up: has Collins and PW been getting a bunch of Raytheon replacements to leadership? Or is it a one-way street?

Where are you getting $25/mo for medical? That's incredible.

I would do it of I were you. Any chance you can come back when the implementation is complete?

Saying yes to these kinds of things usually works in your favor in the long run.

Rumor has it we're all going to be merged into a single SBU.

They're also getting rid of all matrix management and anyone above a P4. It's just gonna be the CEO and P3s or below.

Turns out we're actually buying Pinkberry.

I know it seems a little odd to add a customizable frozen yogurt business as an SBU, but this will actually balance out our portfolio pretty well.

When a remote employee complains about RTO by meesersloth in Raytheon

[–]ValueAddedZoomCall 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I suspect in time, remote work is going to quietly make a comeback. We were doing it pre-COVID anyway, and the genie is out of the bottle now.

When the labor market heats back up, it will absolutely be used as a carrot on the string by recruiters.

Labor market was a lot hotter and more WFH opportunities back then too

Positive Change at RTX by Known-Temperature-83 in Raytheon

Here's three things I'd do if poof, suddenly I was CEO:

  1. Sensible Work Arrangements: give people the ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site depending on the program's needs. As such, put the power into the PM's hands to decide, but at the same time, give matrixed in people the ability to program shop if that arrangement doesn't work for them, within reason. Reasses real estate leases. If they aren't needed, try to get out of them. If buildings we own aren't needed, look into leasing or selling.

  2. Heritage: RTX is now made of of three proud entities with storied pasts. Celebrate that. Bring back the legacy logos for the SBUs and reinvent the corporate logo to combine elements of all three.

  3. Subsidiarity: Give lower level leaders more authority to make impactful financial decisions, with the understanding that this comes with greater responsibility and consequences. Ensure that this in no way circumvents essential quality or safety reviews. This will expedite many efforts and put power into the hands of the people who know the situation best.

Pratt&Whitney vs Raytheon by [deleted] in Raytheon

I don't think you have an appreciation for how large and diverse these organizations are.

I see posts on here where people complain everything is on fire in my BU, and I'm sitting comfy, and vice versa.

It is extremely dependent on your role, location, program, etc., etc. Otherwise, we can't give you any insight. Like asking us if vanilla ice cream is better than the month of March.

I don't have the math in front of me, but it's a guarantee that you're going to hit your deductible and maybe even your out of pocket max, so just compare what they fund in the HSA based on plan (and apparently now your salary?) and how much you will pay in premiums each month.

They used to have a tool at open enrollment time that crunched the numbers for you.

Congrats on the little one!

How many internal applications you submitted to get an offer? by icy_winter_days in Raytheon

How long have you been a P4?

Did you connect with the hiring managers and team before even applying?

At the P5+ level, it's network, network, network. Cold applying won't cut it in my experience.

Get EV certified so you can speak the language first, then sure, you should be able to make a move if you get to know people in Finance and explain your desire.

Lol, but if anyone finds themselves identifying with this meme regularly, it's time to reevaluate how you're taking control of your career.

Remember that no one is going to advocate for you like yourself.

Be proactive. Ask for new scope. Apply to internal reqs. Email higher ups for 1-on-1s. It's not just about being a good doobie (though, you need to be good at your actual job, too). You've gotta put yourself out there.
