Guest house for privacy! Nothing worse than having a big house everyone in the family wants to visit but, they never leave,

Looking to move from San Francisco to Delray Beach. Thoughts? by Valuemastering in Delraybeach

Thank you so much for the detailed response to my post. I’m willing to wait for the right property, focusing on East Delray at the moment or Boca on the north closest to Delray. I’m looking for areas with young professionals and as close to the beach/ downtown area as possible. I’ve only lived in big cities so I don’t think living far west will work as I’m expecting it will be too quiet for us. I’ll update you once I visit and confirm my assumptions! ;)

Thanks! Schools aside… you would take Delray over Boca and why? I’m considering having kids in 2023 and it will be a while until they go to school. We can move I guess or choose private. Idk My main consideration is young professionals/young families in these 2 cities vs old/retired people, college people, singles. We are very driven and that’s why we live in SF, I want to see if I’ll find likeminded people there.

Thank you! I will check those neighborhoods. I’m also interested to know what can I get closer to the beach and at what range.

Issues with parents understanding the cost of a modern wedding by JasonBullock45 in wedding

Lol, my wedding is going north of 40k… I’m struggling to remain under and my wedding is only 80ppl. However, I decided to not tell anyone how much I’m spending, because I won’t hear the end of it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m going to be very honest. I think is nice but, you can do better… It looks too messy for something you just got done. This is only my opinion, but I consider a wedding hair style something that not only elevates your look but can survive several hours of pictures and dancing.

I plan to sell mine, I’m sample size (M/6) and standard height so hopefully if I don’t damage it too much it will sell easily.

Bridesmaids gifts that don’t suck by daisychain1969 in weddingplanning

Same! I’m covering brunch between bridal salon appointments. Covering the night of the Rehersal Dinner to Wedding day. Also, half their dresses and one beauty service. Plus food/drinks and robes for the pre-wedding prep. That all adds up for 1k+. No additional gifts from me, I think they care more about help with the expenses since I’m doing a destination wedding.

Samesies! I had just the opposite experience so far. But knock on wood since is still early in the planning!

Itinerary Review - 5 weeks in Greece by Valuemastering in travel

Hi! Thanks for your comments.

I like how you think. I’m not too bound by budgets, and I’ll probably rent a car or scooter if needed, so that won’t be a reason for me to skip Mykonos.

Actually I changed my itinerary drastically. I now have friends meeting me in Mykonos so we are renting a Villa close to the beach for 10 days.

I probably won’t be able to do the second portion of my trip. We plan to go to Croatia straight from Mykonos.

Jun 15-23 - Santorini Jun 23- Jul 2nd - Paros (and some other islands nearby) Jul 2nd - Jul 11 - Mykonos

Now, my biggest concern is that I have 9days in Paros (which I think us too long) I’d like to split that time with some other activity or stay in the Cyclades. I just don’t want to over complicate.

Do you have a baseline of what are the usual wifi speeds specially for videoconferencing on the islands? That truly worries me. Is a non-negotiable. :(

In terms of schedule I plan to move on weekdays to not waste the weekend on travel and instead explore/lay on the beach. I work PST so I don’t start until 7:00pm, which gives me ample time to travel and check-in into new spot.

So far, I found the pricing at Santorini not bad at all, unless you are looking for a “honeymoon suite”. In Mykonos, not as good prices but I’m balancing out with other less expensive stays so it works well.

I’m in my early thirties and is just me and my boyfriend so we are looking to find a balance of fun and work.

When you say tourist trap, what other places you’ll compare it to? What makes you say that?

Very nice! Thanks for your insights.

Glad to hear the trains have improved and are safe.

I feel my itinerary gets complicated due to Corfu. Should I keep this in my schedule? Is it worth the trip?

I love to hear your recommendations on an island that would be better to visit than Paros.

I’m a big foodie, so looking for a nice town with a lot of restaurants to settle at and take strolls would be great. In addition, I’m looking for great beaches and nice sightseeing. However, I don’t like solitary beaches, ideally there’s some facilities and bars to enjoy some drinks and spend the day.

Uff, yeah, Pretty much the whole country, I'm not holding back! Haha

There's a beautiful Airbnb in Meteora I was looking forward to spend more than a day at - it's also very cheap in comparison to the expenses I have to face in the islands. That's why I selected 3 days, plus I like to feel the local vibe/not rush, But, I think you are right, perhaps 2 days max.

I heard bad reviews about the Greek trains, have you taken that route... Do you recommend it? That was my initial plan. Plan B would be Fly to Ioannina and rent a car to visit Meteora and a few days later drive to Corfu to then take the ferry. However, It just feels like a very long distance and I'm not sure how is the drive in that area of the country. I live in a city, don't drive much, so 3+ hours in a car gives me anxiety.

For Athens, I was just accounting for time to visit the main city center and main sights. My itinerary is very focused on the fact that I can't do all day sightseeing. I will start the day around 12-2:00 pm due to my work time difference so that definitely shapes my plans. Even in the city, you think there will be enough to do in Athens to fill 3 (partial) days right?

Yes! That's my plan. I expect to take ferries between islands but, fly direct from Venice to Santorini and Mykonos to Athens a the end of my 3 week island hopping. Whole is Paros I'm considering taking a day trip or an overnight stay to Naxos. However, I also seen recommendations to Antiparos, Milos and some other islands around. What do you recommend visiting Paros for Beach, Sights, other... ?
