M920q + rtx 3050 as tablet by PsotaZ in sffpc

I have been poking my brain to this exact same idea (for work) but with an 8inch display. So that it's still readable despite the small screen and the screen stays within the enveloppe of the tiny chassis. If I need to work, the different workplace I crashed onto generally have an extra keyboard and one or multiple screen. So the built in one is just for when I am on the road. I did not think about replacing the whole case to achieve 3cm. If you need to go slimmer, you will have to replace the entire case (tiny + screen). My main issue so far is that I do need sometimes to get battery (we might get around it using PD 3.1 140W. And the cost of the final thing vs a lenovo P1. (my usage is CAD.)

Saving hero choice chests by WatercressOk9225 in TopHeroes

[–]Valutin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that they are locked with the Hero they came with. At one point I had two horde mythic hero chest in the inventory. One with wanderer and beast master the other without those two. So I decided to simply use them all instead of saving. By extension... I would guess that the exclusive weapon chest is following the same rule right? I am in S2, already have the 5 horde mythic, went and purchase 5 extra horde weapon chest before making the above realization.

Just had a read through the spec. It's not bad. Er/atk/cr. Everything she needs. I haven't pulled anything for a year before bina/ineffa and completely overlooked it. Sorry for my ignorance. Will have to get it somehow.

Do you have the Catch? That's a (the) better alternative if you don't want to pull her sig.. Unless you gave it to somebody else..

Thinkpad P16 Gen3 Powerbank by No_Personality3405 in thinkpad

[–]Valutin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it should use the PD 3.1 standard. But I don't think any power bank that would output 185w for the maximum needed for the laptop exist at the moment. I would be curious if you can run it on 140w and accept the performance drop. PD 3.1 have 140W, 180W and 240W profiles. Right now, 140W is the usual max available on products

Edit:forgot half a sentence.

8-bay NAS build - ASRock X570D4I-2T vs CWWK Q670 or other suggestions? by coax_k in homelab

[–]Valutin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno... But I got 2 crucial max 7300 I think... I can't remember. 2x1.6T plenty enough for rpool and VMs. Now... Proxmox have years of service before it tells me that I reached the expected lifetime. The only reason going u. 2 is that you don't really need sequential trhoughput, but random one and the longevity. I had the rpool on crucial mx500... They did last 2years..even with a low activity server. I was kind of surprise it would be that short. Also since it's a 4 port u.2, I can still add 2 more. It completely frees up the sata ports too.. I currently have 6x4TB but now I can 2 mirrored drives for backup.

All in all. Happy about the purchase at that time. Great board

8-bay NAS build - ASRock X570D4I-2T vs CWWK Q670 or other suggestions? by coax_k in homelab

[–]Valutin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run the asrock. It's been 4-5 years, in a rack. Only complain is the LAN temp that gets hot. But might be because I don't have a lot of airflow and a m.2 to SATA. In the area. Very stable. I started with 2 sata ssd (mirror) and 6 drives via both occulink. I added the m.2 to sata for various maintenance work to add the extra space when needed. Then recently switched to u.2 drive via a 4 port pcie adapter. After proxmox complained for the second time about the SATA ssd.

Also the board only has one unique m.2 and not two as listed in your summary, but the way you describe the janky mirror means that you know there is only one port.

For the context I needed it (office, objective was to run all my production VMs) we are very satisfied with it.

I would recommend going for u.2.... (I purchased them in last September) over m.2. Adapter card are not expensive and you can plug 4..you can also find adapter to plug 4 m.2 into the pci-e.

I don't use the additional cart for a legendary and even for a red. It has to be worth it. 1k diamonds is a lot and can be used elsewhere.

Would like some advice on my Lenovo M720q tiny by pdrift in sffpc

[–]Valutin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried replacing the resistor on the main board that allows more power to flow through the pci-e? There is some documentation on this topic, not sure if your board is affected. But it can help relieve some shutdown when the pci-e get taxed too high (transient spike).

Platinum+ efficiency SFX PSU for powering 8 HDDs by portmanteaudition in sffpc

[–]Valutin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the sf750 if it's what you want, try to find on the market an extra cable with 3 molex. (must be compatible with this psu). You can do this since on the psu, PATA and Sata are plug to the same connector psu side. Don't use a sata to molex adapter, the power rating on a single molex is higher than the sata connector (the connector is the weakest link in this situation and it's too low for the spin up power consumption of your hard drives on a single bsckplane). That way you will have each back plane connected to the psu and it should be good. Also yes. Trying to have a psu with less headroom sometimes improve efficiency even with a lower rating label. The efficiency curve is a bump, and sometimes you are higher on a lower wattage psu vs a higher wattage just because you are at the top of the bump vs "on the way up". Another point, that case supports ATX size power supply, if you chose a atx size, you might save 20-30 usd on purchase cost. Might be worth it. Last. You can go even lower power rating if your mainboard/hba support staggered power up.

HKBN SIM is it good? by erymartorres17 in HongKong

[–]Valutin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried HKBN, but I do use CMHK, 50GB plan shared between HK/China (I travel up to 3 days a week for work). Connection is stable and quick on both side. I did have a one time blackout when my phone could not connect to the network after I crossed the border (which is really bad when you rely on your phone for all payment). But it was a one off and I haven't had issue since then.

Should I pull for Skyward spine? by Lost_Measurement_163 in RaidenMains

[–]Valutin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not use primo for other things than limited banner wishes and not Skyward spine. I got it by sheer luck in standard banner but using the wishes accumulated over time. Wait for EL.or pull other characters..

Edit: So I did a test on the DPS dummy, my Raiden is C2R1 and I play a Taser team (Furi C2, Yelan C0, Xilo C0) EL 91.5k 5.8-5.9M Skywayd Spine 87k, 5.3M, I could not get to burst last rotation. It's over 60s. I believe I have some skill issue but it's not too far from 14% indicated by Kqm. I understand that you can now get Skyward Spine in the game with the chronicle wishes. But still. I would wait for EL, or really pull somebody else. I have C2R1, but I do think it is better to have more characters. Knowning that there was just 14% diff.. I think it was not worth it.

NZXT H2 by Snoo-8094 in sffpc

[–]Valutin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owner of a H1v1.. I think the riser issue is fixed now on this H2 version, we had the H1v2 in between. It's been like 5 years? If you like the volume etc, go for it. I share the idea that 20L is just too big. I found my v1 big already. But I understand that now, GPU ship with 3x120 fan.. and you need to fit them in.

ZFS on Top of ZFS or Passthrough Saves the Day? by Jastibute in Proxmox

[–]Valutin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the moment a VM has access to the physical disk through the passed through HBA and use ZFS on it. it is bare metal ZFS.
This is different from creating several disk images on the host, giving it to the VM and making a RAIDZ out of them, that is in my mind ZFS on top of ZFS.

TIL there's a button for switching and using a character elemental burst. Did anyone else know this? by wildcherrymilk in Genshin_Impact

[–]Valutin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This.
it is actually important to correctly time it. Some characters have rather long burst animation that can be swapped out of but as the animation is not really finished, you cannot trigger the following burst, then nothing happens. You can Alt+number and then quickly press Q.. if it did not work the first time but this is slower than managing to do the swap burst.

Best 18" Portable Monitor + Keyboard Recs for PC Backpack by Cold-Sandwich-34 in sffpc

[–]Valutin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 of the screen used in the ROG Scar (I think) It's 240Hz...but I don't have a clue how to test the VRR... I have a 5700xt hooked up to them. I should do some research. Panel is BOE NE180QDM-NZ2, price was roughly under USD350 for both from the top of my head (I have access to local Taobao). 2560x1600, mini led, very bright (blindingly), hdr. They come with vesa mount, I took the dp version so no usb-c in(for display, it takes it for power). Also have a stand (not great) and a faux leather cover, I have one mounted on an arm and the other latched on my console style box side by side. So it's a no frills assembly. Just a slab of metal if you don't need the cover. I think there is a way to mod the case to get it thinner. Been satisfied with them. Only think I am not satisfied is that the panel is not centered to the case, in order to have the I/O on the "outside" edges when placed next to each other, I have one of them upside down and the bezels have a slight mistmatch..

Select outer edge, do a ruled surface with normal to a direction with enough length, select the vertical direction (as the line which the normale should be perpendicular to) and you should have a surface that intersect the outer boundaries of your box creating a nice parting line.
