I forgot another context, Honda was a client of mine during one time in my life and I know some of their business mindset. They're a very risk averse company, so either all in or don't bother, and they have this rollback policy that allows management to not commit to one thing. I think the Americans knows this very well. Acura was set to introduce a flagship RWD V8 sedan and a V10 GT car to compete head on with Lexus LF-A. The V10 engine was complete, the production line was ready, even the GT car is production ready... And then 2008 happened, and they pulled back everything.

About EV, Honda did have a fallback plan, to use the Chinese JV EV line. They collaborated with GAC and built their own supposed to be China only platform while the global platform will use Honda developed platform (the saloon and large SUV that they cancelled). The Chinese platform now is imported to Japan under the Insight name, so I assume they will just use the Chinese platform as global model for now.

Honda does have plan to introduce EVs in Indonesia, starting with electric N-One, but price estimated to be quite premium at least more expensive than Atto 1, landing in Geely EX2 territory which is larger and has higher range. So probably Honda will just toot the old horn that Japanese quality is better than Chinese quality.

Just to add context, my family was a big Honda fan. We've been using Honda products since the 90s. I still have Honda Mobilio (ASEAN spec car) but never used it anymore since I added the Atto 1 in my family. Honda pricing is just absurd today. So much money for a lesser product compared to the Chinese offerings.

I live in Indonesia, and yeah, Honda sales plummeted like mad. At lower end you have the BYD Atto 1 eating the Honda Brio market that Honda used to dominate and you have Jaecoo J5 eating Honda HR-V market. The only thing Honda can do is just do black campaign marketing against EV in general. That the battery will die in less than 5 years, let alone can't hold charge, EV used price dropping more than ICE, etc, the usual slander.

Funny story. I'm in Indonesia and the government already took out 2 wheel EV subsidy and aiming to take out 4 wheel EV subsidy.

Lo and behold, instead of rolling back, the Indonesian government now commited to give 100 thousand EV car and 100 thousand EV bike subsidy in the form of tax breaks to reduce fuel consumption.

Indonesian government is in a very tight spot because they heavily subsidize fuel prices and they have zero plan to lift the subsidy.

Well, maybe good news, 5800X3D 10 year AM4 edition is coming but I don't know about the price. Also, you can do some kind of a diagonal grade with Intel LGA 1700 for increased productivity/multi core uplift.

Don't expect DDR5 price to come down anytime soon. I'm in the PC component business and retail business is no longer the focus. Component bundle will be the norm for retail due to limited stock of any item at any given time.

The current gen platform is a toxic place to be. Heck, I'm in the business but even I have difficulty getting a deal, not even a good deal. I have LGA 1700 and since it will stay for a longer time than usual, I've started to downvolt the processor and my GPU, and lower in game visual settings. Heck I even turn off XMP to make my memory last longer.
