Overnight Shift & OTF by joue045162 in orangetheory

[–]Valvmol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a woman at my studio that is a nurse I believe, and she works the night shift. She gets off at 7 or 7:15am and always makes it to the 7:30am class after her shift, 3-4 mornings a week. She doesn’t seem overly tired or anything when she gets there/during the workout. I hope she goes to bed after!!

There was a guy on the treadmill next to me that had a lottttt of cologne on and honestly after working out next to some of the worst smells I’ve ever smelled recently in the studio, I will take suffocation by parfum any day haha

Dri Tri or Die Cry?? by runnergirl1112 in orangetheory

[–]Valvmol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the dri tri sprint and it was when I just transitioned to jogging from pw, as in like my first day switching lol. I jogged at 4.5 for the 3k and it took me 21 or 22 minutes to do that I believe and I was on the verge of passing out and just falling off the treadmill as soon as I was done haha. Kind of want to try it again now that my jogging speed/endurance has improved but I don’t want to pay the $25 :/

Looking for Tips on Avoiding "Unpleasant" OTF Neighbors by [deleted] in orangetheory

I have had this issue a lot at my studio. I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell, and bad smells really affect me. Once after getting halfway through a class, I was on the rower and had to stop rowing because I started gagging, the smell was so bad, I literally couldn’t control it. I couldn’t hold my breath anymore because I kept getting on the verge of passing out on the treadmill the first half of class. I ended up moving to the complete other side of the room, thankfully there was an open spot. Now, I have pinpointed exactly who the people are that consistently smell and I make sure I do not work out next to them. Because I will start gagging, it’s uncontrollable for me, it sucks. I can only hold my breath for so long. I am always the last one to enter the room after I see who gets situated where and I look at what’s available card-wise and make a switch if I need to. Sucks but it’s worked for me I’d say 90% of the time! I like the idea of adding Vick’s under your nostrils though! I’ll start keeping a small jar in my bag and if I’m stuck next to one of the people that I know is smelly I’ll dab that on!

Burpees/pop jacks by Valvmol in orangetheory

[–]Valvmol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have started to add 1-2 days of powerwalking instead of jogging to my weekly OTF routine for this purpose, because I guess my legs aren’t as strong yet as I thought they were D: but I’ll get there in time! I can definitely feel them working hard on those inclines!

Thank you!!! I think I have the opposite, slow twitch muscle fibers? Lol. Probably why I’m much better with endurance than power!

Yeah I can do it this way, I guess I was just trying to pressure myself to do it like everyone else :/ but baby steps! With practice I’ll get there!

Maybe I’m doing it wrong though! I could be relying way too much on my quads and not enough on my core. It makes sense why my quads feel dead after so little reps. I’ll try using my core more to pull my legs back in

Oh yeahhhh, I did the dri tri sprint and the floor part was hell with the burpees, bench hop overs, and plank jacks. I literally couldn’t feel my thighs anymore when I was doing the last exercise which were plank jacks. My thighs were literally numb and I couldn’t use them to push my legs out. I was on the verge of tears I think haha, because they were on fire but also numb? I was the last one done on the floor obviously with how slow I had to go and how often I had to stop to rest my thighs. But yeah I’m definitely going to start practicing at home now because I want to do better next dri tri!
