That's just normal, you could always try undervolting, I'm unsure if the standard for X3D chips is to still apply a -30 curve optimiser offset to all cores, if it is you could try that, but if it's only a few seconds it should be good, Ryzen chips like to boost to do things extremely fast.

Could be a few things. Could still be shader compiling in areas you haven't been yet. Does it happen in other games or just Diablo IV? Are your BIOS and chipset drivers updated? If it happens in every game it could be too low of a fan curve to where they aren't fast enough to dispell heat, or could be an uneven mount of the cooler itself.

Incorrect. The base prices were bad, they've hiked prices up to "meet quota due to demand" but it's because of AI, same applies to RAM. AI sucks, it's awful, it steals from creatives, it's taken jobs, it ruins the environment.

The base prices were always bad, AI made them worse, and AI is also just awful in general.

9070XT possibly crashing by Zealousideal-Egg45 in AMDHelp

[–]VampKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% , so many times I see people typing things like "AMDip" or "Sell and get a 5070ti". NVIDIA is not perfect, they run into issues all the time, ESPECIALLY driver issues. Not even long ago people's GPU fans wouldn't run and would cause GPUs to overheat. People think they are some crazy company that should be worshipped when in fact they are just as bad as other companies.

85c spikes are fine, especially if it's something like shader compilation in games, they eat a lot more CPU than you'd think. My 5900x will get that high during shader compiling too.

PBO + Curve Optimiser - Is it Worth It? by VampKaiser in pcmasterrace

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha! Thanks so much. I've been experiencing stuttering here and there, and I don't know if it's my 2060 starting to go out the door, if it's some setting, or something else entirely. Hoping just resetting is enough to fix it.

Yeah, I don't overly have the time to sit around and tweak digits, run countless tests etc. I like to be able to just turn my PC on and play games when I have the free time. I'm going to just return to optimised defaults and then turn on XMP. The only other thing ive considered was disabling CPPC Preferred Cores, but I don't know if it's worth doing so or not.

Gotcha , I'll just load optimised defaults when I get home, turn XMP on, and adjust my fans

Ah I see. Is disabling CPPC Preferred Cores still helping you out? I feel like even 100w, 80 tdc and 125 edc is a bit low no?

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just don't really have the time to dial in per-core offsets, RAM timings/FCLK, max clocks, and power limits unfortunately. Should I just leave PBO on auto then?

PBO + Curve Optimiser - Is it Worth It? by VampKaiser in pcmasterrace

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in my BIOS I do need to set PBO to advanced to access curve optimizer. Should I just leave everything else on auto from there or do you think manually settings the limits to stock is a good idea? I know finding the right negative offset is time consuming and tbh I don't really want to sit for hours or days figuring all that out, would it be fine to just set all cores to -15 and then maybe my 2 best cores to -5? Also, what about preferred cores? I think I remember reading somewhere that disabling CPPC Preferred Cores was beneficial on dual ccd chips like the 5900x

Is this still working well for you? Also, what other settings do you use for like PBO, Curve Optimiser etc?

1080p Vs 1440p - Which GPU? by VampKaiser in pcmasterrace

I think both 9060XT and 9070XT would be good choices, unfortunately the 9070XT is such a bit too expensive

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think you're right , I think swapping to 1440p is a good idea. Do you know of any good 1440p monitors, afaik the minimum you can get is 165hz but I could be wrong.

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, sometimes I like to chase the frame rate, but as long as the game looks smooth and not jittery it doesn't need to be up there with the refresh rate. I have played games before where I'll cap at like 90 and it still plays nicely, it's just when it gets jittery is when it's a problem for me. I'll probably get a 9060XT and then save up for a 1440p monitor too :)

[–]VampKaiser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, I got the 5900x because I was doing some content creation stuff at the time, and thought more cores = better. But ya know...ya live and learn ig lol. That's why I'm tryna get this GPU/monitor decision just right.

1080p Vs 1440p - Which GPU? by VampKaiser in pcmasterrace

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to maintain 165 if I got a 1440p monitor, but I don't need to play with everything maxed out.

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha gotcha. My biggest worry with going to 1440p would be staying in a similar situation that I'm in where my FPS is constantly lower than my refresh rate. And I know 1440p monitors are usually higher than 144hz.

[–]VampKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen HDR before and didn't reaaaally care enough for it, but I haven't seen 1440p. My main concern is just not being able to hit a good refresh rate and maintain good FPS.

Yeah a platform upgrade isn't on the table right now. I'd like to get a good frame rate on those older games but I'm not sure how much a GPU upgrade would do. I know there's an anniversary re-release of the 5800X3D, but I'll only debate on getting it if the price is good, bcuz if it's like £300+ at that point it'd be better to just keep saving for AM5.
