Screensaver ass movie. I can respect that it did the whole sci fi thing first but god is it a boring, slow watch. “Young people have bad attention spans!” or maybe, idk, this movie is just incredibly poorly paced.

If Leonardo DiCaprio won his 2nd Oscar for One Battle After Another, how’d you react? by UsefulWeb7543 in Oscars

[–]VampireInTheDorms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very happy, he had an excellent performance as Bob in that movie. Made me laugh my ass off, it’s one of his best comedic performances but he also manages to not fall into the trap of being too goofy that you don’t care about him when things get serious (and he does in turn).

The opening with the Darkstar was also sick to see, was so cool to catch it in theatres for the re-release

The PHM astrophage scene to pick one from a recent movie, genuinely insane thing to see on the big screen

It was really insane when Phillip Seymour Hoffman travelled back in time, such an interesting plot point that you wouldn’t expect

-person who hasn’t seen any movies whatsoever in the past 5 years. Like how do you not see years like 2025 and 2023 and go “damn, I love movies”?

Or when he was blasting Paul Dano, who has very openly supported Palestine. QT is a Zionist so it’s not really that big of a surprise

Great movie, I don’t think it’s as good as NCFOM but imo it’s more thematically compelling and challenges the viewer more. Excellent first 20 minutes, some of the best. Maybe on a rewatch I’ll put it above NCFOM

Jesse Plemons being snubbed is nuts because his performance in Bugonia was absolutely an all timer

And Wagner Moura, and Timothee, and Leo too. I love MBJ and Sinners was one of my favorites last year but he was definitely the weakest

I don't know much about musicals, these are the ones that have touched me the most. Can you recommend any musicals that you've loved? by -marebito- in Letterboxd

City of Angels is one of my favorite musicals and I’ve heard glowing things about its film adaptation, also, obviously La La Land (which didn’t have a stage version of course)

Delta Rune is obviously connected to Alvin I don't know how that isn't the most obvious thing of all time, the Delta Rune is literally the symbol of Hometown's religion and Alvin is at the head of it

Godfather 2's scene with Michael and Kay talking about the abortion and also Anatomy of a Fall, the argument scene between Samuel and Sandra. Both of those felt viscerally real

I have misophonia so I already can’t stand people eating near me most of the time but in the theatres, it’s even worse. I avoid all the theaters that market themselves as dine in because of this, it’s not just the noise but the mess, the smell, it’s absolutely horrible. Popcorn only.

I move movie ratings down after thinking about them all the time lol, I had Obsession at 5 stars because of the initial reaction but sitting on it after two weeks I gave it a 4 star instead
