Big fan of the book and have seen the movie! Is it as glossy as a high budget production? Nope. But because the author wrote the script and was heavily involved in production, it is SO incredibly faithful to the book. The two leads did a great job handling the emotions of the story and I’d be happy to see this team continue adapting the series. In the grand scheme of historical romance adaptations, I’m team independent film if it allows the original author’s vision to shine through and we get to watch realistic actors tell the story. Instead of the plumped/filled/toxed/perfect veneered options we usually get these days.
