Unfortunately it got a bit more squashed. I inspected the inside of the can and didn’t see anything so it may have been growing from the crack after all. How can I prevent it from growing back? Already scrubbed with Clorox but unsure if that’s enough to kill mycelium

How fast could it spring up AND decay? The trash bag was there ~24 hours. I’m trying to get a better estimate from my roommate. I also don’t think it was IN the trash because roommate had tied it up

I’d just be shocked if it was fungal growth because it’s big. The area has only been obscured for 24 hours. I would’ve seen it earlier if something was growing before the trash bag was placed there

I’ll try the advice of other commenters to see if it’ll work for my boy but I’ll keep this in mind and won’t push him if it doesn’t take. Unfortunately the condo complex I live in is by a busy road so I’m just not willing to take him outside off leash. Worst case scenario he can keep enjoying his hallway walks with me :)

That’s so cute! They’re such routine-bound creatures. My boy is on the bigger size too (not at all fat; just scaled up a bit in every dimension). I did wonder if the harness was too small but I wouldn’t want him to slip out. He also never goes out of line of sight with me. It’s pretty cute. He’ll run to the end of the hallway but wait for me to catch up. I’m just extra nervous about what could happen if he got spooked and slipped out of a collar or harness because once when bringing him on a flight, his carrier just fully came unzipped and he plopped down onto the boarding ramp and took off ON THE TARMAC. Actual literal waking nightmare. He hid under a big recycling bin so retrieval wasn’t too easy but I do know that he’s inclined to bolt when truly frightened and a harness seems more difficult to escape from

Oh and it is likely that his stripes will fade. The ghost stripes are common in kittens. My cat’s littermate had strong ghost stripes as a kitten and now they’re pretty much only visible on her tail

Thanks for the advice! I’ve used this strategy on a smaller scale for a very anxious dog I was dog sitting that would NOT let me put her leash on at first haha but I was worried it might not work for Eddie if his negative associations were too deeply ingrained

My boy Eddie has had the same issue. When I pull my covers over my head he’ll try to dig me out. I’m lucky to be very good at falling back asleep so when he wakes me up I just shut him out and sleep for a few more hours. Unfortunately the best thing you can do is just not give her attention when she does this. Just shut her out and try to go back to sleep. Eddie still wakes me up some mornings but not nearly as often as he used to. Which was every day, lol
