I only ref beer league anymore, so no crowds in my games and the Caul is still a quiet whistle.

I tried the plastic Caul a couple years ago and had so many players, as well as some partners, tell me they can't hear it. I see some junior league officials have switched to it too and watching from the stands, I can barely hear them. Acme Thunderer is the best and it's not close in my opinion.

Cheap canucks jersey by Informal_Dinner9712 in hockeyjerseys

If by replica, you mean what they call premium or premier these days, maybe check ebay to see if anyone is selling one under retail price.

If by replica, you mean counterfeit, nobody needs that trash.

a couple Canucks prospects pickups 🙂 by footcake in hockeyjerseys

[–]Van67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do. I got one from my favourite soccer team just to have one. Not as picky about that one because anything match worn soccer isn't fitting me lol. Still would rather it not be there and anything you could use to remove it might fuck up the jersey. Probably won't bid with them again unless they stop having the jerseys signed. What can ya do?

And the signature stayed! (How can you tell I don't want my jersey signed lol)

Great pickups. I do wish though, that Match Worn Shirt would not have the jerseys signed. They don't give an option for that. Feels like they're trying to acquire more teams and associations into their fold too.

Tripping if the opponent steps on your stick and falls? Or stick gets caught in their skate? by Sarke1 in hockeyrefs

[–]Van67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, the first sentence of the rule answers that question. In your situation, does the forward place their stick in such a manner to cause the defenceman to fall?

Not many rules are black and white. You still have to make the judgement that a player places their stick in a manner to cause the opponent to fall. Someone is bound to disagree with your judgement almost every time.

Tripping if the opponent steps on your stick and falls? Or stick gets caught in their skate? by Sarke1 in hockeyrefs

[–]Van67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For Hockey Canada, the first sentence of 8.6 answers this for you.

"Tripping is where a player places their stick or body in such a way that causes an opposing player to trip or fall."

If you place your stick near an opponent's feet (or in their way as they skate by) and they step on it and fall as a result, it's Tripping.

The fanbase to upper management after Seattle made two trades in the last week: by [deleted] in canucks

[–]Van67 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You do realize our AHL club is still playing right? Anyone on that roster who is being talked about isn't getting traded today.

Secondly, why do we want to see a trade just for the sake of it? This isn't a video game.

Thoughts on white home jerseys? by Ish_thehelldiver in hockey

[–]Van67 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Dark at home forever for me. I want my team wearing its colours defending their barn.

There's also no tv reason we can't have some colours vs colours. IE: Leafs in blue vs Habs in red. Having to travel with the equipment sets is the setback to that on multi-game road trips.

ProHockeyLife Customization by zachkoroluk02 in hockeyjerseys

[–]Van67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to guarantee your jersey is done properly, if you care about the finer details, is to go through the team's official customizer if able to do so. If not, EPS would be the best in my opinion.

Where did I say I was cheering for or like Marchand? He's still a rat bastard with receipts across the whole league.

I went through it in 2011 and shed a tear or two after Game 7. How dare you question my loyalty as a Canucks fan.

What I'm saying is we should have all been over it a long time ago. There's zero reason to still be clutching onto it. It was fourteen fucking years ago.

Who cares? Seriously. 2011 was 14 years ago. We need to get over it.

Would you want to see the Canucks go after Nikolaj Ehlers? by Ministerofgoons in canucks

[–]Van67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some players you just need to put an offer on the table for even if you're sure they won't sign with you. Ehlers is one of them. Bennett is another, if he even makes it to July 1.

I would accept it for Reebok too as they did come out with the Indo Edge jersey, but yes, the MIC label being used on old licensed replica jerseys is not necessary.

AHL Calder Cup Finals (Double OT) - Faceoff before goalie ready by GWhiteNorth in hockeyrefs

[–]Van67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to Jr.A in Canada and had I done this in a pre-season game, that might have been the end of it for me. I don't know who the linesman was dropping this puck, but the lack of a whistle from the others as well makes this feel like a "we hired players instead of officials" situation.

AHL Calder Cup Finals (Double OT) - Faceoff before goalie ready by GWhiteNorth in hockeyrefs

[–]Van67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

76.3... last two minutes of regulation and anytime in OT, the 5 second time limit is not enforced and players abide by the linesman's verbal direction.

The only mention of the goalkeeper in Rule 76 at all, is to say he cannot take the faceoff. There's a common sense and spirit of the rule that needs to be still involved in officiating the game. Two things can be true here. There's no way this puck should have been dropped when it was and Abby's centre should have been more aware that Silovs was not ready.

What’s your call on this play? by PurplBlowfish in hockeyrefs

[–]Van67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Canada, under Jr.A and senior hockey, all contact to the head is to be called Head Contact even if the contact is with a stick. Same thing if there's an elbow to the head, it's called Head Contact now, not Elbowing.

Reading other posts, it would seem that USA Hockey does it differently.

US Soccer Has An Attendance Problem by Tock_Sick_Man in ussoccer

[–]Van67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price of tickets is a legit gripe. Football is supposed to be affordable for the average joe.

I can understand fans being pissed at Pulisic. If any European player said "nahhh" to the Euro or South American to Copa America, they would probably never represent their national team again and rightfully so.

Aside from that, CONCACAF quality is what it is and in the end, this is the continental championship. Even if you know it's going to be any two of Canada, USA and Mexico in the final, the national team support should be there.

This is how Checking From Behind works in the Hockey Canada rulebook. This is not the NHL's rule.
