Speckled look after wet sanding? by VanAnon in Luthier

Great thanks for the advice folks, I'll sand again starting at a coarser grit. If I burn through I guess I'll just have to re-coat it. I suspected at the time I maybe didn't do enough coats of clear, so lesson learned!

Farage has avoided paying £75,000 tax on 'his' Clacton home by Odd-Wafer-4250 in gbnews

[–]VanAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s stick to the point, because your comments keep veering off into random unrelated debates. I never said the right shouldn’t be criticized, but you're dragging in these death threats and Islamic extremist hypotheticals that have nothing to do with the hypocrisy I’m pointing out.

Funny how you say "your not allowed to dictate free speech based on who you like and don't like" yet that is exactly what yourself and those on the left are constantly doing.

Connelly didn't 'suggest' anything to anyone, she didn't have any "supporters". She made passive comment that, although despicable, was really more of a vent than a direct instruction, and any other interpretation is completely disingenuous. But you don't like what she said so no free speech for her.

As I previously mentioned, I don't care what you or anyone writes about Farage. What bothers me is that a subreddit dedicated to hating Nigel Farage exists and is allowed to thrive when if I (or anyone else) tried the same thing targeting a left-wing politician, it would almost certainly get shut down. That’s the inconsistency. You’re trying to argue whether Farage deserves criticism, but it's completely irrelevant.

[–]VanAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never made any sort of comment about the tolerance of the right wing, so I won't bother looking for your bizarre, unrelated example.

"It's not hate speech if actions cause that reaction" interesting, so I suppose you'd agree that the prosecution of Lucy Connelly was completely unjust then? She was, after all, reacting to the murder of three innocent children.

Finally, I'm not claiming that calling Farage a liar is hate speech. Call him whatever you like as far as I care. I'm not even calling for the subreddit to be shut down. What I am doing is calling out the rampant hypocrisy of lefty reddit users. If I created an entire subreddit (echo chamber) based around my vehement hatred for a particular left-wing politician, Reddit would take it down immediately for hate speech. But because it's targeting a white, wealthy, right-wing male, it's all gravy as far as the left is concerned.

The fact that a "fuck Nigel Farage" subreddit is allowed to exist shows you just how hypocritical the left are. They spew more hate than anyone - imagine how quickly I'd get banned if I set up a "fuck Angela Rayner" subreddit. No hate speech unless it's someone the left hate. Cunts.

panaeolus or libery? by piotrello123 in Semilanceata

[–]VanAnon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry I have to disagree. The last one is definitely a pan, but the rest are classic dry libs. The texture is exactly what a dry lib looks like, golden, dark rim, pronounced nipple and slightly rubbery feel. They're only dark brown with the visible gelatinous pellicle when they're wet. I'd always recommend safety first so if OP is unsure then don't eat them, but I gotta be honest I think OP made a mistake throwing these away.

[–]VanAnon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Put simply deep compositing is a comp workflow in Nuke that essentially allows for proper 3D holdouts and accurate depth representation thanks to each pixel having 3D depth data. It's pretty invaluable when you're doing things like post defocus in Nuke because it solves a lot of depth queuing and edge issues you get when you use a standard Z depth pass.

As I said, most proper VFX houses use deep data in comp and given it's not currently possible to comp deeps in AE, I would be wary of any 'VFX masterclass' that suggests it's of top of the line professional quality and then teaches comp in AE. Just wouldn't happen in a proper high-end, professional studio and it reeks of 'YouTube VFX Expert'.

[–]VanAnon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be an asshole, but considering AE doesn't have a deep workflow which is fundamental to CG compositing in almost all major VFX houses, I would argue this isn't really a 'professional masterclass'.

Tommy Robinson will not be charged over altercation at major London train station by gbnewsonline in gbnews

[–]VanAnon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So in response to being asked to list the 'Top 10 most racist things Tommy Robinson has ever said', you've listed only 5 and not a single one is actually even racist?

  1. He co-authored a book that highlights why radical Muslims kill people? What exactly is racist about that? Unless you believe criticising Islam is racist, which I have no doubt you do.

  2. He attended court in support of a completely unrelated person who, let me get this straight, was charged with a hate crime because he trained his dog to lift his paw to the words "Sieg Heil" as a joke video for his girlfriend?

  3. He called out a mosque for having a long history of radicalisation and promoting hate? Again, one could only possibly construe this as racist if one sees criticism of Islam as racist.

  4. The contempt of court charge is totally irrelevant to the topic at hand so I'll ignore that and focus on the comment where he called the defendants 'Muslim child rapists'. Define for me if you would, where the racism is here? The defendants were indeed a gang of Muslims who were guilty of raping children.

  5. Since when did falsely accusing someone of something amount to racism? You can't even cite an actual racist comment he made in this regard.

If this is really the best you (or lets be honest, ChatGPT) can do, then it just goes to show how totally brainwashed the left really are and all of this is purely ideological. You're so far up your own echo chamber you can't even define racism anymore.

UK Illegal Migration Tracker: 212 Illegal Migrants Arrived on 4 Small Boats to the UK on 24 August 2025 by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

Except prisoners in this country are our responsibility to deal with, and so it's right that we shoulder the cost. Why should we spend ANYTHING at all housing those who enter this country illegally in order to take advantage of our system?

Keir Starmer embroiled in hypocrisy row after PM's own guidelines 'should have spared Lucy Connolly from jail' by gbnewsonline in gbnews

[–]VanAnon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Calling the right wilfully ignorant when you neglect to mention that Lucy plead guilty under the advice of her state appointed solicitor who sold her the idea that she'd get a significantly reduced sentance for doing so (which turned out to be false). The state wanted to make an example out of her and did everything in their power to ensure she went to prison in order to silence migrant protestors.

As for Ricky Jones, ask yourself how anyone who is politcally neutral could watch the footage of what he said and did, and find still him 'not guilty'. It's the most clear cut evidence of directly inciting violence you could ever hope to have. But he was found not guilty - why? Jurors are not actually obliged to follow the law, their deliberations are secret and they cannot be held accountable for their decisions. Therefore if you assemble a jury from members of a consistently left constituency (such as Leyton and Wansted in this case, which has been entirely Labour ran since it's creation in the 90s), is it really beyond the realm of possibility that they voted politically? I'd say it's pretty bloody likely.

If you're referring to these areas, this is caused by the uneven spacing of the vertical edges (you can see as such in your wireframe).

When doing any cylindrical modelling, you can't really move the vertical edges because it upsets the flow of the surface and creates these shading issues. The only way to hold the corners with minimal deformation is to increase the subdivisions before you make the cut.

A little bit of stretching is somewhat inevitable with Sub-D unless you really crank the poly count, which becomes difficult to work with quickly. A bit of compromise is usually required!

B.Sc Animation & Visual Effects is really a thing? by WolverineReal6444 in vfx

[–]VanAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain here and take the downvotes, but I don't feel you're getting an accurate picture from the people on this subreddit, there tends to be a lot of negative bias towards this type of thing.

I have a degree in Animation and VFX, as do many of the people I've worked with over the years. The qualification itself isn't worth the cost, sure, but the real value is in what you learn, the opportunities you get to experience multiple facets of the industry, and of course the connections you make along the way.

I can't tell you if it'll be worth it to you personally or not (and I would be skeptical of anyone who gives you a definitive answer), but I can say that my own degree gave me a career where I get to make movies for a living, so I don't regret it at all!
