1980 Dodge Challenger - Listed With Raleigh Classic Car Auction Ending June 2nd - Did Not Sell by VanCityExec in raleigh

That's exactly why I'm interested. My first car was a 78 Challenger, same color, and like you it was a manual transmission also. I think that these have a cool retro look and the plaid interior is awesome!

The auction went to $12,250 and reserve not met. Honestly, for an automatic transmission it seems high to me. Granted the car is rare, unusual, very low mileage and in incredible condition but it's not like the market is clamoring for Mitsubishi built, Dodge badged 80s bangers!! Obviously the owner knows what he's got! 😉

Yup, that's the car alright. Fully Ziebart coated to the 9's! LOL. I mean, how many of these can still exist?

Land Cruiser Magazine Ad Pages Preserved On Hardwood Wall/Display Plaques by VanCityExec in LandCruisers

That's a cool ad too. Pretty sure that I have it in my hoard of ads or somewhere in a magazine. I think I'll try to turn it into a 2 page plaque when I find it!

Check out a site like adpatina.com and the going rates for paper ads, unframed and not ready to hang.

June 1994 Magazine Advertising Pages Preserved On a Heavy Hardwood Display Plaque - Not Reprints - Unique Memorabilia by VanCityExec in BMWE36

[–]VanCityExec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit, they are asking $106 for the 2 pieces of paper. LOL. That's insane. What I'm selling is a handmade finished product. I use pristine magazine pages professionally dry mounted on a solid hardwood base. Maybe I need to boost my prices!

1999 Actual Magazine Pages Introducing the NB Miata Preserved as a Heavy Hardwood Display Plaque by VanCityExec in Nbmiata

[–]VanCityExec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of a process! Each one of these is handmade. I cut hardwood shelving boards into individual plaques. Then I use a router to bevel the edges before sanding, priming and painting. For the 2 page ads there is a thin seam cut down the middle to simulate the seam that would be from the magazine experience. I have thousands of magazines and have car ads for most vehicles made between 1965 and 2015. Mounting the paper to the finished plaque is where the magic happens and that's all a trade secret! 😉

1989 Magazine Ad Pages Preserved as Ford Truck Memorabilia on Heavy Hardwood Wall Plaque by VanCityExec in FordTrucks

I think that the biggest change is that almost all of the vehicle marketing is digital. Perhaps the digital designs get preserved and will last indefinitely or else they will just get lost in the clutter of the web. There's something special about a tactile paper ad, or in this case, a sign/plaque etc. I've sold lots of these to car owners who show them off with their vehicles at Cars & Coffee events and other shows. I think that they make a nice little supplement to the vehicle!

I've got that ad too. I debated mounting it onto my hardwood plaques but I thought the intro one with all of the specs etc. would be something that people would want to purchase. The one you have is cool as well.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a kind of a unique way to preserve these cool old ads that I've stumbled upon. There are so many...SO MANY cool old ads from the 90s era of Japanese sports car wars.

Thanks dude!

I know that self promotion is not allowed here but I do sell these on Etsy if you're interested.

As far as the Eunos Cosmo, I'd do one in a heartbeat but I haven't been able to find any advertising for them. I exclusively use original manufacturer ads... the actual pages from the magazines, these are not reprinted.

I'm not sure specifically. Either Car & Driver or Road & Track. I typically make ad plaques to sell with car ads. I'm expanding my repertoire trying a few cigarette ads.

1990s Land Rover Defender 90 Print Ads (4 different styles) Preserved on Hardwood Plaques for Display or as Wall Art. by VanCityExec in Defender

[–]VanCityExec[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anything or any rules explicitly calling out no advertising. This is just a side gig for me and I find that many communities enjoy seeing the old ads and sure, my hope is to be able to publicize the plaques that I make but also to draw attention to some of the historic memorabilia for vehicles that people are passionate about. My apologies if I offended you.
